I would first call the police to see if there was a report of some missing money. If they said no, I would hold onto it for another couple of weeks and call back.

If no one claimed it by then, I would keep it.

No way I keep it right away b/c it may someone's life savings or then again maybe it was money that a charity raised, who knows but I would first try to return it to its rightful owner.

I probably would, if it was a few bucks, then probably no, but a large sum I would. I found an envelope with 1700$+ in travelers checks and a few hundred in cash when I was working at a golf course. I called the pro shop and tracked the group by the name on the checks,(they were already signed). I returned it to the owner and he was kind enough to say thank you. :frown2: But, if I had it to do over again I'd still do the same.

I can imagine I would find the money and say, "I'll keep it!". But after thinking about I would likely change my mind and return it. Not so to be altruistic. But I imagine some part of me would fear that somebody saw me take it and would come after me with a gun.

That's hateful finding 1700+ and just getting a thank you. I once found like 40 bucks on the side of the road. As I was walking I saw a car driving along real slow, and they stopped and asked if I had found any money. It seems their 2 year old had grabbed money out of her purse and slung it out the window. She gave me 5 bucks when I handed it over to her. Of course I was only like 12 so 5 bucks was huge back then.

Of course I'd pick it up but I would NEVER claim it to be something I created... I'm telling ya... bad mojo can ruin a perfectly good day...
