WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion)

After watching two playoff games and the game last night my only concern re: Braxton remains to be size...can he get himself into the kind of shape to take the hits he's going take in the Big 10 and survive. I think the talk of him being the starter during TP's abscence is way premature.

Is he similar in size/stature to Denard?

He's bigger than Denard by a good bit. Taller, and has a bit bigger build with room to put on a few more pounds of muscle to take the B10 hits.

The plus is that Braxton, when moving around in the backfield is still looking downfield to throw the ball. He's a pass first QB with the ability to run. Denard is a run first QB with somewhat of an ability to pass.

I'm not worried about his size. He's already bigger than Troy was as a senior and Troy would take off and run a good bit in his earlier years. I have all the confidence in the world in Braxton that he will be able to survive the hits he will take in the Big 10 err 12.

Anyone watch the Under Armour skills challenge the day before the UA game? Braxton did the looked good throwing to the moving targets, but his deep ball was not great, the ball slipped out of his hand. I watched some of the video of his passing game and noticed that he throws a very nice short and intermediate ball, but that his deep ball is a little iffy. He also has an odd throwing motion. His elbow seems to be away from his body, he almost throws from the elbow and not his shoulder. Not trying to over analyze, just wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

Good thing is he'll be here this spring.....I'm sure his mechanics will be a big part of what the coaches will work with him on. Looking back on the Pryor's first year, maybe first year and a half......the offense was pretty vanilla. In fact I think I recall lots of complaints about not stretching the field and throwing down field. Glad he is looking solid with the short to intermediate stuff because I think that will be a lot of what we see out of him early. I have a suspicion we see Bauserman start game one but either Guiton, Graham, or Miller taking over the rest of TP's suspension.

I did not watch the skills competition but this runs counter to what I have read and the videos that I have watched. Braxton has sound fundamentals with a very quick release. I remember one practice video from the earlier this year where he threw a deep ball right on the money with the ease of if he were flipping the ball to a ref after scoring a TD.

I am sure he will need to adjust to the speed, skill and schemes at the next level, but he is no project.
