Hopefully Corey's success there will be a good example for Anderson. Kid has so much talent and it would be a nice to see him turn things around.

It has been a long trip for juco receiver Corey Smith (Scooba, Miss./East Mississippi C.C.), but he is nearing the day he can finally enroll at a Division I school.

Smith is at East Mississippi CC after switching from Grand Rapids CC in Michigan when the football program was shut down.

He will only have to play one season at East Mississippi, though, and he will enroll at a Division I program in January.

Will someone please explain what this is exactly? How would he impact the recruiting numbers for the 2013 class if he became a Buckeye?

I'm guessing because he is a JUCO player, then he'll have 3 years of eligibility to play two years at the school he attends.

And if he accepts the schollie, he counts against the total number of scholarships allowed for his two or three years. If he 'shirts, he still counts, just as if he suits up and plays. Correctamundo on has three years to play two. He only has two years of eligibility, but can redshirt for one year first or in between his two years of playing.

East Mississippi Community College wide receiver Corey Smith is in second year removed from Akron Buchtel High School, and the time is coming close for his college choice. Is Ohio State back in the picture for Smith?

Makes sense. He'd basically come in as a true junior. If he wanted, he could redshirt in 2013, in which case he'd go into 2014 as a redshirt junior.

Edit to add: I would guess that OSU is recruiting him with the assumption he wouldn't redshirt. Doesn't make too much sense in my opinion given our numbers to have him for three years.
