WR DeVier Posey (2017 Grey Cup Champion and MVP)

Welcome Mr. Posey!!

The 11:00 news had a highlight on him in Columbus, it mentioned the fact he's only been playing football for a couple of years, a lot of upside for this fine SMART student-athlete... sounds like a Tressel type guy...

La Salle's Posey says he'll play at OSU
BY SHANNON RUSSELL | [email protected]

DeVier Posey is Ohio State's newest Buckeye.
The La Salle wide receiver orally committed to the school Sunday night, accepting a full scholarship offer from football coach Jim Tressel.
The offer came after Posey and his mother, Julie, spent two days meeting coaches and touring Ohio State's campus.

"I feel like 100 pounds have been lifted off my shoulders," said Posey, a junior. "It's a happy feeling. ... I think this is the best decision for me."

OSU next on receiver?s whirlwind tour of football
Wednesday, March 14, 2007
Tim May
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

DeVier Posey was hoping to keep it secret one more day, but the secret is out: He committed yesterday to sign a national letter of intent with Ohio State.
Posey, a receiver who just started playing football last year for Cincinnati LaSalle, had hoped to announce his intentions today, but the secret did not hold as the Buckeyes gained the services of what Ohio Football Recruiting News editor Bill Kurelic said is the No. 1 receiver prospect in the state.
"I?m going to Ohio State," Posey told The Dispatch yesterday. "I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
"I am really happy right now. I went up there and visited over the weekend and it just really felt like home. It was a great feeling."

Annoyance with La Salle? No annoyance at all from this loyal Buckeye and OSU grad. Like DeVier's decision to verbal to OSU, Ben Martin's decision to sign with Tennessee was a personal decision.

Having spent 17 great years on the faculty at La Salle, I know quite a few coaches, grads, and families who are diehard Buckeye fans. For all of us, Lancer red is difficult to distinguish from Buckeye scarlet. Go Bucks! Go Lancers! :oh: :io:

I'm just a Bomber alum talking some smack........no real offense intended....it's good to see guys from North Bend Road wear Scarlet and Gray whatever school they may come from.

BTW, according to the Dispatch article DeVier has only played one year of football!?!?

Last year was his first year as a full-time varsity starter...

It is amazing to me what his family has overcome...I think it says a lot about the mother that all 4 kids are college degree bound.

Back to DeVier on the field - a stud in the classroom (4.0) and a stud on the field (4.5) could mean big things @ tOSU.

If he grows as fast his senior year as he did last year (growth in terms of progression towards becoming a big time wideout) then he may challenge for time @ OSU as a true frosh. Dude has the frame for it already!

would this be a stretch for me to think that devier's statement is more about tressel's wanting his recruits to take all of their visits than it is actually about devier's desire to look at other schools?

He's just keeping his options open in case of any issues arise with him attending Ohio State. Considering how early in the recruting season we are I'd say it's a farily intelligent idea.

He's 100% Buckeye.
