WR DeVier Posey (2017 Grey Cup Champion and MVP)

Posey Sees Hard Work as Key to Buckeye Improvements in 2010

DeVier Posey came to Ohio State as one of the most highly-regarded high school receivers in the nation in 2008. After a freshman season that saw him record only eleven receptions in a crowded receiving corps, much more was required of him in 2009 as Brian Robiskie and Brian Hartline moved on to the NFL. Fortunately for the Buckeyes, all Posey did in 2009 was haul in 60 receptions for 828 yards and eight touchdowns, the best numbers by a true sophomore receiver at Ohio State since Michael Jenkins in 2001.

With the amount of work that Posey has put in to becoming Ohio State?s primary receiving threat, he understands what it has taken for him to succeed. And when it comes to his teammates making improvements, he knows what to look for. That?s why when asked who he thought had been making strides in the offseason, he was happy to note that there wasn?t just one player standing out.

?It?s really been a team effort?, he said. ?I really can?t pinpoint one guy who?s been working harder than the others. Anytime you?re walking through the Woody [Hayes Athletic Center]--I go to the Woody everyday--and I always see somebody in the weight room. I think that as a team we?re just working harder in general.?

Actually, the photo by Jim Davidson is wrong, it's actually from Posey's drop he had in the first quarter. He caught the touchdown pass in the 4th quarter, when it was night time, not during the day!

Don't know why I caught that, but Posey is great! Haha!

Well, it doesn't say it was the TD catch either. Just says he makes a catch.

This kid is about to be a star! The entire will know his name by mid season, when he tears through most of the Big 10 and destroys Miamis DBs!

And to think that he's going to be one of 3, maybe 4 big-time targets for TP.

If nothing else, this year's team is going to be exciting to watch.

You remember incorrectly (or I do ). I remember Posey saying on his TD catch that he lost the ball in the sun until the last moment and barely had time to react.

Perhaps he lost it in the lights... the sun was setting in the west (behind the endzone where it was scored).

Two things I am counting on from Posey: Barring injury, this will be his last year here. 2nd, I wouldn't be surprised if he is an All-American with 1,200-1,300 receiving yards. Even with our supposed depth and talent, Pryor will still lock in on Posey imo (and a bit on Dane). That's OK with me though, Posey is one of the more rounded receivers in the country. To me it will be interesting to see how A.J. Green and Julio Jones look this year...perhaps Posey passes them on the draft board?

Posey has to be one of the most underrated receivers, at least on the national level. In my opinion, he is the most talented of an outstanding group of receivers (though that is kind of an unfair statement since Dane and Devier are completely different types of receivers). I think that any of the top five Buckeye receivers would be starters on almost any other major BCS team. Posey, Dane, Carter, Washington, Fields. (I know that the 4th and 5th....and maybe even the 3rd spots are debatable)

Is anyone else having trouble not getting too excited about the offensive potential next year? It is so easy to build unrealistic expectations, especially considering the arsenal of weapons that TP has at his disposal.....not to mention TP himself.

Here is to looking for big things from Devier in 2010-11.

I feel like we could be witnessing a Ginn/Gonzales kind of 1-2 punch this season...admittedly, Posey may be a better all-around receiver than Ted...and Dane may not be as great of an over-the-middle guy as Gonzo, I think having that kind of 1-2 punch with an athletic, mobile QB is going to be AMAZING.

Everything just LOOKS so great going into next season...you can't help but expect great things. I'm definitely excited...

Most definitely... :oh:

I would like the offense to have some sort of identity. We have a hard time finding a formula/ brand of offense that works consistently.

Also, I think that Duron will not be this year third reciever. I am thinking that we give TW or one of the young more explosive players a shot. Also, I think Stoneburner will have a big year. If Pryor looks for him.
