WR Jameson Williams (transfer to Alabama, Detroit Lions)

There's a difference between "he could have helped" and "the coaches fucked up by not making him stay somehow". Bijan Robinson and Kenneth Walker could "help" our running game, too. But our RB room is great and none of them (nor Henderson) benefit from having them here. So what's the point?
There’s also clearly a difference in that Jameson Williams was on tOSU last year, and Robinson and Walker were not.

I don’t mind Williams not being on tOSU this year, and I hope he has a successful NFL career (looks like a Raider type WR to me :sneaky:). But I have to admit that I’ll be disappointed if he helps Bama get into the CFP this year, or helps Bryce Young win the Heisman, because I don’t want either of those things to happen.

I can't speak for every fan, but I personally root for any and all players who transfer out of tOSU - unless they give me a reason not to. Jamo has absolutely not. I was always pulling for him and still am. I actually find it kind of hilarious that Bama's best receiver had a hard time getting on the field here. Guess he has a reason to feel a bit bitter, but I would say the situation has worked out pretty damn well for everyone involved, so why be bitter?

Does anyone know the context of his statement? Was he being interviewed by a 'Bama writer or was he being asked about a potential matchup against tOSU? If so, I can see him affirming his commitment to Bama? (I mean, if last year someone would have asked Justin Fields something similar in regards to Georgia, I would have expected him to say something similar to this.)

Or, does he use perceived disrespect as motivation and is making a small innocuous comment a major issue in order to feed off of it?

Just interesting, but without context, it seems strange.

I too am rooting for him -- he didn't throw a fit or talk shit about OSU on his way out the door. He made a business decision and it's paying off for him. Who can fault a guy for that?

But who knows what kind of bullshit has been spewed at him on twitter, instagram, etc. I expect if we saw some DMs he had received, that quote might make more sense.

Not all of us. I'm happy he's doing well (even if it's for bammer) and have been following him. I'll root for him as long as he isn't playing tOSU. I also hope he has a long, successful career in the NFL.

I believe that's the case with most people. I don't peruse any other boards, but even on 11W, FB and Twitter, I don't remember anyone really dogging on him for the transfer. Doesn't mean there weren't a few. tOSU is a huge fanbase, obviously, and there's always some of 'those fans' around. But in this case, I think they are in the extreme minority. Maybe it's what he uses to motivate himself.

It seems to me that Jameson wanted to be able to rub it in that he’s doing well. He may be getting some negative comments from some Ohio State fans, but I’ve literally not seen a single one. The vast majority have stated that they are rooting for him to do well.

Again, it seems that he just wants to say “look at me now.” Yeah, look at you! We are happy for you. But keep running your lip and you’ll lose a lot of support.
