WR Parris Campbell Jr. (Philadelphia Eagles)

Watching that live, it never looked like he really hit top speed. I kept waiting to see a defender up ahead he was waiting to juke, but he's so fast it doesn't look like he's trying very hard.

Also, I really like this dude. Has a ton of potential, struggles with consistency, yet he's a real leader and always puts in the effort for the team.

He reminds me a bit like Pryor in that way. I honestly only ever see Pryor look like he was trying a few times when he tried to get the corner. All his other runs he'd be leaving people looking like he was jogging.

Parris doesn't even need a ton of touches(though 5-10/gm would be nice), he's so explosive that he can take one to the house at all times. He is in a sense what many of us thought that Dontre Wilson would've been in this offense. As a decoy, Campbell is even as dangerous, because defenses have to be worried about him taking a short slant, a bubble screen, etc to the house by making one guy miss and then the rest of the defense can't keep up. He's a guy who may have a lot of up and down games based on stats this year, because of how teams watch him and know how dangerous he is. But once he gets the right mismatch and Haskins is able to get him the ball at the right time, its 6 on the board. I don't say this as often as some do, but the closest thing we've seen to Ginn

PARRIS CAMPBELL SHOWS HE HAS BECOME “POLISHED” RECEIVER IN CAREER GAME VS. TULANE

96799_h.jpg

Ohio State wasted no time involving Parris Campbell in the offense one week after he caught just two passes.

It took just one drive in the Buckeyes’ 49-6 win against Tulane for him to match his total of receptions from his team’s win TCU last Saturday. Less than six minutes into the game, Campbell set his season-high in receiving yards. By the end of the first half, Campbell set single-game career highs in receptions (eight) and yards (147). He also caught a career-high two touchdowns. The redshirt senior did not play in the second half.

Since Campbell became a starter two years ago, his electrifying speed that helped him set the high-school state record in the 60-meter dash in 2014, has been obvious. Campbell, though, hasn’t always played with the all-around skillset he showcased throughout the first and second quarters.

“That touchdown to Parris Campbell over his left shoulder, what a beautiful throw and catch, and I'm proud of Parris,” Meyer said. “That was a catch he has struggled with over the years, and he has really worked so hard at it.”

The play Meyer referred to in his postgame press conference, a deep fade down the left sideline, seemed foreign to what Campbell customarily offered Ohio State’s offense the past couple seasons. From the slot position, Campbell ran directly at the defender tasked with guarding him in one-on-one coverage, took a jab step to the right, then raced to the back-left corner of the end zone.

And as he has done consistently throughout the first four games of the season, Dwayne Haskins hit his target with a high-arcing toss that hit Campbell in stride for to give Ohio State a 21-0 lead late in the first quarter.

“I feel like that, in the past, it's been my weakness,” Campbell said. “I've been working on that all offseason. Today was testimony.”

Football: Parris Campbell proving the value of extra year at Ohio State

Image-from-iOS-1-2o1eka7-530x353.jpg

Last year, following Ohio State’s win in the Cotton Bowl over USC, Parris Campbell had a decision to make.

The then-redshirt junior could have forgoed his senior season in an effort to make an NFL team. But, Campbell said he decided to come back to improve his versatility as a wide receiver.

“I was 100 percent on coming back, that’s where my mind was that’s where my head was,” Campbell said. “The main thing was for me that I didn’t want to have any regrets and, honestly I can say to you when I made the decision I didn’t have any.”

Head coach Urban Meyer agreed with Campbell’s decision to return to Ohio State, and said he has the potential to make a major splash in the NFL.

“He made a decision —he should have come back,” Meyer said. “I think he’s a top first-round draft pick at some point, but he had to improve his ball skills, especially down field.”

Through the first three games, Campbell stayed consistent, scoring a touchdown in all three games to start the season and tallying 11 catches for 152 yards in the three Ohio State victories.

But, on Saturday against Tulane, Campbell erupted for eight receptions and 147 yards, including a pair of touchdowns in the 49-6 win over the Green Wave.

All of Campbell’s receptions came in the first half, including a 37-yard touchdown catch off a throw by redshirt sophomore quarterback Dwayne Haskins that illustrated Campbell’s new attention to his deep-threat ability.

Campbell has always used his speed to make plays happen, as he showed on a 63-yard score against TCU. But, the redshirt senior receiver said he had to work on his hands before making that jump to the NFL, as well as his ability to catch the deep ball.

Let's be honest here, Campbell came back to actually learn to be a WR and have an actual QB throwing him the ball. Campbell for the first time in his career looks like a legit NFL caliber WR, I'm not saying he's a 1st round talent(or even 2nd) but the kid can make an NFL roster and be someones 3-4 best WR. His speed is something to behold, there was a play where he didn't score, but he took a pass from Haskins and hit the edge, and it literally looked like he was floating on air that he was moving so fast! Campbell is a guy that when you're watching the game and see him get the ball, you stand up because you know something special is going to happen. It feels great watching this kid mature and turn from an athlete into a WR. I know some would've thought a year or so ago, that injures would derail him and he'd be a one trick pony that could only catch screens and slants, but couldn't catch them consistently, now we don't have to worry when the ball is thrown his way

My dad is a track and field guy and he seems to think that Parris is TGII fast... he said once Parris gets to top speed its debatable just that Teddy got to his top speed faster. All I know is what I see on the field and Parris can go but Teddy is just a different type of blazer to me

I have never yet seen a player with as much football speed as Teddy Ginn. In my entire life.
