WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (Official Thread)

Let's hope Ginn is completely surrounded every time by Texas... because that means Holmes, Gonzales, Hamby, Pittman, Wells and Smith are running free and wild...

Shutting down a major major weapon... only works when thats the ONLY weapon you're dealing with...

Teddy Ginn is an extraordinary football player capable of breaking a game wide open with every touch.

However, he is also a hit or miss type player...Barry Sandersesque if you will. He makes a 7 yard loss exciting.

As a fanbase, we have unfairly raised the expectations on him where we expect a juke, a spin, and a burst into the open field on every touch. This is not fair, nor is it realistic.

Teddy will make some big plays when the opportunity is there, but if he has to carry this team like he did in games last year, tOSU is in trouble. There are too many weapons for that to happen IMHO.

Texas is fast and will take good pursuit angles on him when it comes to reverses, bubbles, and slip screens. Look for Teddy on the slants and skinny posts next week as Gonzo and Holmes stretch the field while Lyons, Hall, and Hambone occupy LBs.

To defeat the Longhorns, it will take plays every weapon tOSU possesses.

Grad is on the money again.... A combination of over-hyping the kid and Miami focusing on him caused many to thiink he did not play well. I thought he played a great game, not as good as I hoped but he did some special things when he had the ball in his hands, and look at how many 1:1 is caused with the other recievers. I will take that. On speial teams a lot of the punts were high and short giving us great field position.

Because of Ginn's presence: We had great field position almost every drive, freed up recievers to have 1:1. Allowed for running lanes for the RB's.

In Summary yeah I think Ginn will be fine :-)

I don't really buy it, people were posting the same shit for Vince b/c he was on one of the College football preview covers.

What is the jinx supposed to effect, the team or the player?

good point. Clarett was on the cover after we beat scUM in 2002.

One the one hand, we won the next game and MoC had the play of the game (trip of Taylor) and the winning TD.

On the other, he only ran for about 50 more yards, in probably the rest of his football life. :slappy:

All that proves is that we need to go retro and bust out the tear-away jerseys!

Somebody fark a picture of Ted Ginn running down the field with a torn shirt and a Texas defender holding a piece of scarlet fabric... or just wait until Saturday night and see it for real!
