Agreed. His TD run was very VY like. He has the same ability to run at a good pace while keeping his center of gravity over his hips, making it possible to change direction without shifting weight. 2 or 3 defenders had a chance to wrap him up, and TP looked like he didn't even notice. After a full year in the S&C program, he's going to be unbelievable. We have seen the future, and the future is bright.

And I agree with you. Todd is a good quarterback and the job is his to lose, no question. I just think that TP will prove to be that good and we will need what his mobility gives us.

Antonio Henton looked great against YSU too. Take 'er easy, fellas. Pryor isn't taking Boeckman's job. This situation is very similar to '06 Florida in that regard. You have the steady veteran who isn't known for his poise and a freshman with superstar potential. Pryor's time will come but we need Boeckman to start and Pryor to contribute if we want a chance at an NC.

Terrelle Pryor completed his first pass. He scored his first touchdown. He received his first standing ovation in Ohio Stadium.

It added up to what seemed to be an above-average debut yesterday for the most celebrated Ohio State quarterback recruit in 30 years. But when asked to give himself a grade after a 43-0 win over Youngstown State, Pryor was not feeling generous.
"A four," he said -- and he meant out of 10.
"My dropbacks could be a little better and a little farther, and (to) throw the ball more," Pryor said. "There's always some good things, but the bad things are always going to be in my mind after every game."
For the Buckeyes, the game was about letting Pryor get his feet wet.
Even quarterbacks coach Joe Daniels was feeling the nerves. He had spent years luring Pryor from Jeannette, Pa., and with 6:52 left in the first quarter, it was time to see him play as a collegian for the first time.

Pryor makes OSU debut

COLUMBUS - If Saturday's performance was any indication as to what freshman Terrelle Pryor is going to bring to the Ohio State football team, it could be summed up in one word - excitement.
The Buckeyes, ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press poll, easily dispatched Youngstown State, cruising to a 43-0 victory in front of 105,011 fans at Ohio Stadium.
But all the buzz surrounded Pryor, a 6-foot-6, 235-pound quarterback from Jeannette, Pa.
Would he live up to all the hype as the country's No. 1-rated quarterback coming out of high school?
He did. He completed his first three passes and had a couple of outstanding runs. It was almost as if every time he touched the ball, the fans were waiting for something exciting to happen.
"I've been dying to get out on the field with these guys," Pryor said. "I was a little nervous, but my main goal was to not have any turnovers.
"I was nervous about everyone judging me, but once I got out there I just wanted to have fun. It was great to get out there and finally get time under my belt."
Listed third on the depth chart, Pryor entered before backup Joe Bauserman, and he received a loud cheer from the crowd.

With Pryor, excitement runs (primarily) wild in college debut with Buckeyes

COLUMBUS -- Selling Terrelle Pryor as a thrower first and a runner by default -- the opposite of Troy Smith, the Wonder Years -- well, you can't blame Jim Tressel for trying.
Nobody's buying it quite yet. No doubt, that includes USC.
Don't get me wrong. Pryor's debut against Youngstown State Saturday showed off his startling talent, resulted in his first college touchdown (a run) and was of adequate length to make the Trojans spend time game-planning for him.
Except for the possibility of losing a Heisman Trophy candidate running back in a game they could've won, 43-0, without him, it was mission accomplished for the Buckeyes. They played everybody except the drum major.

The thing I really like about Pryor was how poised he was and even relaxed. I just got that strong sense of presence that he was going to get things done. I am not comparing him to Vince Young or Troy Smith at all but he had that same moxie about him.

Good first showing for sure.

That is actually what I (er...the kids) meant...putting a vbet in the bookie about when Pryor would come in. But, anything that raises Mili's blood pressure is still fun. :biggrin:

Jim Tressel - "Terrelle obviously is a guy who can do some great things?

Terrelle Pryor has made some rapid strides in a very short time. Comparing the replay of a TP high school game to what we saw yesterday has me very excited for the good guys in scarlet and gray. He seemed to have better footwork, delivery, while maintaining his composure. I am tempered by the fact YSU is not USC but he took the step from Pennsylvania AA High School football to YSU easily.

I like that his first play was a pass. I also like that he did not turn the ball over. This was something TeBow did very well his first year at UF. If TP can protect the football without limiting his big play potential we will see a lot of him this year.

The passing is what I expected


The running is what I expected



The ball-handling is off-the-charts, absolutely amazing. His fakes were deft enough to have the entire YSU defense running the wrong direction. Say what you will about the difference in athletic ability, the Penguins were very assignment-sound the vast majority of the time.

But with Pryor in the Pistol, the Penguins (not to mention the camera operators) were helpless. After seeing film of it, that hand-off (fake or not) is going to freeze future opponents. I hope we see play-action off of that fake later in the year.
