COLUMBUS ? He has not even begun his junior season at Ohio State, but already Terrelle Pryor is talking about next year.

Based on the hype surrounding the 6-foot-6 quarterback when he came to Columbus back in 2008, some people might expect that talk to include references to the National Football League.

Those people would be wrong.

?I want to leave a legacy here. That's my goal,? Pryor said Sunday during media day at Ohio Stadium.

"I think I was a little arrogant," he said yesterday. "I think I was arrogant, and I was kind of to myself. I didn't know what was special to me; I didn't know what I loved.

"When you grow up and mature around a great group of guys who tell you about yourself and tell you how you act and (how they) don't like it, it's great to hear that and grow from it. I think that's how I grew."

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- To hear one Ohio State player tell it, Terrelle Pryor maybe wasn't a great teammate during his first two years as a Buckeye. Of course, the player explaining this was Pryor himself.

"I think I was a little arrogant, to tell the truth," Pryor said Sunday, speaking to reporters at Ohio State's team photo day. "You think about it and I came in as a junior in high school and everybody was praising me, everyone was being around me and everybody was telling me how I great I am. It can be kind of ... you lose your humbleness. And [now] I feel humble. I feel very humble, very appreciative."

COLUMBUS — Cameras clicked and fingers pointed as Terrelle Pryor jogged out of the Woody Hayes Athletic Center on Sunday afternoon.

Unlike numerous teammates who stopped to hug, shake hands with or kiss family members on their way to the practice field, Pryor's stride was broken by no one.

The 6-foot-6, 235-pound quarterback of the Ohio State Buckeyes flashed a smile to members of the media and family members of players who were on hand for practice and the Media Day festivities later in the day. Besides that, he was all business.

That's how it's going to be this year for the Heisman Trophy candidate.

"Believe me, I had my fun days," he said, talking about his maturation and development since arriving in Columbus a few summers back. "Freshmen come in as freshmen. We're all human beings and make mistakes. You have your fun and you've got to enjoy your first time.

Hey man, that's awesome. But if reporters aren't wondering yet about Pryor's plans for the NFL, who is? Not draftniks, who never mention Pryor alongside other coveted underclassmen like Arkansas' Ryan Mallett or Stanford's Andrew Luck as certain first-rounders if they come out after this season. Not Big Ten opponents, last week voted Pryor as the conference's "most overrated" player in an informal player poll.

The assumption that it's a relevant subject at al prior to the season is the opposite of "humbled," from a player who was thrust into the spotlight so early on as a supernova recruit and then as true freshman in 2008 that even he ? like his critics ? seems to be overlooking just how young he still is, and how much time he still has to advance on the curve before those kinds of decisions ever come into play.

Its kind of an unnecessarily cynical piece by Matt Hinton, whom I usually admire as an open-minded writer. I think Pryor just wanted to discuss his intentions to leave the legacy and not jump ship after a presumably successful Ohio State season. The conversation seemed to have a natural dialogue/flow to it and I like where Pryor went with it.

The pro-prospects of Pryor are open to interpretation, but at this point in his COLLEGE career, he has accomplished more than Mallett, Luck or Christian Ponder. While he may not be the prototypical pocket passer, he has a huge upside, as do the QBs mentioned above.

Hinton puts down Pryor's pro prospects before his Junior season, when no one really knows how good (or bad) of a season Pryor may have. If he is a dominant force like Vince Young was in his, then I can see many scouts drooling over him to come out. Its kind of funny that Ryan Mallett can have one single season playing football, 2009 Arkansas, and everyone projects him as a top-5 pick. Isn't this one of those situations of Pryor probably being overexposed to national attention and media, and Mallett being underexposed having been a transfer to a middle-road SEC team? Probably.

Anyways, just food for thought.

I feel like we've heard that from a lot of guys that play in The Shoe.

In reality, the only way to TRULY accomplish that feat is to win 2 Heismans AND a National Championship.
