I did not know that...

question for you that requires a one word answer (yes or no)....

Regardless of how I worded the character issues between the two players, would you consider Cam Newton to be of higher character than Terrelle Pryor based on the general knowldege we have of these two players history?

How you perform against Toledo: Huge to the NFL scouts. Maybe Pryor had to play those 5 games to get the ESPN hype machine behind him, I'm sure the real scouts will be able to work with the game tape from some 7 other odd games he'll be playing in this year

I swear they make Kiper and McShay cover scouting/the draft because they aren't smart enough to actually analyze the game (and given the standard of ESPN in that regard, that is sure saying something)

well let's see here, since he's already detonated Toledo once already nearly 2 full seasons ago, in an NFL stadium no less, as a lesser QB than he is today, I'd say at least that game doesn't matter quite so much to the scouts.

Kiper is a scout like a Congressman is a productive member of society - those that can do and those that can't get to talk about it on TV.

Jim Tressel: Terrelle Pryor will be back May 1
By Adam Hawkins

Published: Wednesday, April 13, 2011

The Ohio State football team has completed eight practices this spring and coach Jim Tressel said the coaching staff is pleased with the team's effort so far.

Tressel and senior center Mike Brewster spoke to the media today during a Big Ten Leaders division teleconference. He said the eight practices have been solid and there has been a lot of competition throughout the spring at multiple positions.

Tressel addressed the progression of quarterback Terrelle Pryor and his participation in spring practice following foot surgery to repair torn ligaments in his left foot.

"He'll be back running around at the first of May and he can kind of stand still throwing the ball," Tressel said.

He said Pryor's development as a quarterback should help him get drafted at the same position in the NFL Draft, disagreeing with ESPN's Mel Kiper, who said he thinks Pryor will be an NFL tight end.

I do not think we have "general knowledge" sufficient to make even an educated guess. We only have ten tons of spin/s*** to sift through, all of it directed by individuals and entities with important axes to grind, both for and against. And, unless they both have a shared past with similar role models and ethics training - and both faced virtually identical challenges and temptations in similar circumstances - how either one of them individually reacted to a situation is not much guidance as to how the other would have responded if placed in an identical position.

Pryor hasn't had the best career of any tOSU quarterback (unless somehow they win the national title next year, then maybe) but imo it's been the most interesting and the most fun to watch and debate. Sports is just entertainment and it's hard to be more entertaining than he has been.

His detractors are going to realize how good of a college quarterback he is after he's gone. The last 2 years he has taken an offense with, quite frankly, not a lot of special players on it to a lot of plays and a lot of wins.

He shouldn't have sold his stuff, I guess, even though it's ludicrous that a grown man can't sell his possessions under NCAA law, but even that adds to the discussion in a weird way.

He's not going to be a good pro QB imo but he's been a great and memorable Buckeye and I'll miss watching him after his bowl win next year.

:shake:

He's a great and memorable Buckeye but he hasn't had the "best career of any QB" at tOSU? I guess "best career" is debatable but his stats, right now, before playing his last 8 games at tOSU are among the best all time at tOSU.

He has the opportunity to be the first Buckeye QB to start and win 4 games against tsun...I'm not sure but, maybe even the first QB to do that in the history of The Game. Add to that a potential 3-1 bowl record...pretty hard to top. Krenzel was 2-1 in The Game & Bowls with a NC the cherry on top. Compared to all the other QBs in tOSU History? overall offensive stats? Total pass yards, TDs, Rushing yards etc...TP is at or near the top.

Your post is full of "spin/[Mark May]".

Cam may have caused Auburn to be guilty of a major violation (I think he knew of hid dad's selling him, but I do not have hold up in court type proof at this time).

Pryor's actions in tat-gate led to Tress being guilty of a major violation - no "may" involved. Had tatgate not happened, none of the bad stuff that is happening to Tress right now would be happening (yeah, Tress had choices too, but Pryor and co. created the need for a choice).

I don't think TP is the devil. I don't naively think Cam is clean. But as I sit typing this, only one qb's actions has - right now - led to a major violation being assessed to his program/coach. That person is not Cam.

For now anyway. I know this bugs you Kyle, but that is the current factual situation. I can agree with some of your speculation, but that is not fact. Right now tOSU has a violation that is related to TP's actions. Right now Auburn does not. So since the original questions had to do with who had the worst/best character, I said it is too soon to tell.

Nothing about that is my guess how it will work out in the future. So I say it is too soon to tell. Sorry if that bugs you.
