Returning to the starting lineup after missing last week’s game due to lingering concussion issues, Terrelle Pryor was terrific in leading the Oakland Raiders to a 27-17 win over the San Diego Chargers on Sunday night.

Pryor completed 18 of 23 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns. For the second straight game, he posted a passer rating over 100 with a 135.7 rating against the Chargers.

Terrelle Pryor changes everything for the Oakland Raiders

OAKLAND -- It was third-and-14 from their own 41-yard line, Mychal Rivera had just been called for offensive pass interference, and the Raiders looked headed for overtime or worse.

If you've watched the Raiders for the past decade and were still awake as Sunday night was nearing Monday morning on the Pacific Coast, the feeling of utter helplessness was unmistakable.

Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers was piling up completions and yardage at an alarming rate. The Raiders defense was giving up yardage in chunks and they were a play away from having Marquette King punt the ball back to the Chargers with a 24-17 lead and just over seven minutes to play.

Then Terrelle Pryor changed everything.

"A lot of times, you look up and think, `Oh, no,' something bad is about to happen,'" Raiders coach Dennis Allen said after a 27-17 win over the Chargers at O.co Coliseum. "Then he gets out of the pocket and creates.''

Pryor has fun, at Chargers' expense
October, 7, 2013
By Paul Gutierrez | ESPN.com

OAKLAND, Calif. -- After a quick beginning, and even more fits and starts, the Oakland Raiders' offense needed a big play from its biggest playmaker.

And on third-and-14, from his own 41-yard line, and with San Diego within a touchdown and riding momentum midway through the fourth quarter, Terrelle Pryor heard the disembodied voice of his offensive coordinator in his helmet as he broke the huddle.

“He’s not going to get it off,” Greg Olson said, noting the dwindling play clock and not exactly filling the raw quarterback with confidence.

No matter. Pryor, it turns out, had enough confidence for Olson, his teammates, the coaching staff and practically the whole sold-out O.co Coliseum for Sunday night’s late start.

“That was hilarious,” Pryor said later. “I actually giggled. He’s crazy.”

Crazy like a fox. Because all Pryor did was roll right -- as he did most of the night -- look downfield and spy Brice Butler ... for the first time all game. Pryor hit Butler for a 20-yard pickup that extended the drive, and four plays later Sebastian Janikowski kicked a 50-yard field goal for the final points in a 27-17 Oakland victory.

For the second time in three weeks, quarterback Terrelle Pryor served notice in a nationally televised game that the Oakland Raiders will not be a pushover this season.

Pryor completed his first 10 passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns as the Raiders raced out to a 17-0 lead that would ultimately result in a 27-17 victory over the San Diego Chargers in the latest start time in NFL history.

Rivaling Russell Wilson for the toughest quarterback to corral in the pocket, Pryor toyed with Chargers' defenders throughout Sunday's first half. He was composed, kept his eyes downfield, showed great touch on deep balls and continued to burn defenses that allow him to roll out to his right.

Oakland Raiders' Terrelle Pryor taking his place as top-notch NFL passer
By Jerry McDonald

ALAMEDA -- Terrelle Pryor is resisting the urge to offer a heaping helping of "I told you so'' to the skeptics who doubted his skill as a passer.

"You've got to respect the progression and respect the people critiquing you, because at the end of the day that's what it's all about -- getting better,'' Pryor said Wednesday as the Raiders got in their first full day of preparation to face the unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs.

For all the attention focused on Pryor's ability to extend plays with his feet, the fact is his passing statistics have him in the realm of the NFL's top quarterbacks.

Pryor's 97.6 passer rating ranks behind Peyton Manning, Tony Romo, Philip Rivers, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and Matt Ryan. His completion percentage of 68.3 trails only Manning (75.8), Rivers (73.7), Romo (71.8), Brees (69.7) and Ryan (69.3).

what did these idiots expect...he was only the number 1 prospect in america as a high school senior...2 BCS bowl game MVP awards...

i think not going to the combine and getting drafted with all the others, and going in the supplemental draft made people forget how great of a prospect he was...but i think most of us buckeye fans knew the raiders got a steal when they selected him...
