I do think we should wait till the season happens to make final judgement but going from a number one recruit to a major scandal is a lot of news for one person.

I dont think this looks like a major scandal....maybe it does right now but it is a far cry from pay for play or violence toward a woman or somthing

Two key players, who's eligibility status is in question, were allowed to play.

Pryor and Posey may or may not have been suspended for a game or three - we'll never know for sure now - and he avoided a media circus at the same time by not reporting.

If the simplest explanation is the most likely, that's what we're looking at - Tressel didn't report a sure-fire NCAA violation despite multiple opportunities to do so in order to protect the eligibility of two key players.

It's not quite pay for play, but it's right next to it.

No its not, I say that knowing the NCAA may treat it as such but it is not a major "scandal".....which would be uncovering a deep rooted pay for play scheme....what we have here is a pridefull coach who didnt say shit because he was worried about his season IMO.... that is not a good thing but a "scandal" it is not....unrooting somthing systemic would be......besides it was in response to a comment about TP not Tressel

Not even close. They sold their own personal items for less than they were worth. They could have taken those rings to a refiner and received more money. I think most of the suspended received only around $1000 for 75 grams of 10k gold from Rife. Gold is over $1400 an ounce. The whole thing is a complete joke.

Not to mention we are in Pryor's thread talking about him....Smoov was talking about Tress

Chris Carter wasn't without his little bit of controversy as well...

That said: Pryor is 3-0 vs scUM. Rose Bowl & Sugar Bowl MVP and one bad 1st quarter in Madison, Wisc. from playing for a national championship.

Let's see how this year pans out though.

And he was one missed tackle away from winning the Fiesta Bowl as a freshman... I'm going to remember him as an exciting QB. He did more with his first three years than most players do in their career -- and he still has a chance for another bowl MVP this season.

Troy won the Heisman, and took us to a National Championship. When I say mose people will think Tattoos, its cuz its what most people around the country will remember...

When they thought of Troy, they thought of his $500 handshake up until he won the Heisman and took us to the national title game. If Pryor has an excellent seven-game stretch in the regular season and leads up to a BCS-bowl win (hopefully national title), then you can bet folks 25 years from now will remember that and not Tatoo-palooza...

Hell it's not even on the same plane as pay for play or even over-signing, especially since no prospective student got fucked out of a schollie because his asshole coach signed 30 players for 25 spots.

Tress screwed up and made a mistake and will pay for it. But let's not get overly sensitive or critical here - what he did pales in comparison to what other coaches have done and will do in the future.

comparing it to pay for play ignores the basic facts as they are now known, in the case.

I say a darn good Heisman resume can be put together in 7 games as well. If the committee was willing to give it to Cam Newton, I don't see why they would turn the other cheek to Pryor if he was to put up similar numbers next year.
