WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Turns out Kyle is absolutely correct about the plus one rationale.

Sorry, but you mean to tell me the NCAA gave them four games because of the jersey/tat deals but only one extra game because they lied to the NCAA? That's not how I remember it. The NCAA doesn't like rules violations, but they loathe being lied to...

In December, the story was that the extra game was due to the players not coming forward about their extra benefits after tOSU had improved their education in that area - which was said to have happened sometime after the violations occurred but well before the story broke in December.

According to the NCAA, cases like this would normally carry a four-game suspension (or 30% of the season). But the NCAA said that since the student-athletes did not come forward to disclose the violations immediately upon receiving the appropriate rules education, an additional game was added to the punishment.

"Once a student-athlete understands a violation has occurred, they must immediately come forward to report it," Lennon said. "That did not happen, so the additional one-game penalty was imposed."

Cont'd ...
That's different than saying the players lied, and somebody that's criticized another poster for not being accurate in discussing the topic should follow the same standards he wants others to adhere to.

Terrelle got the extra game for not being forthcoming when he had the chance, not for several years of selling [Mark May].

For the record, that was Kyle's quote I was referring to when I said he was correct about the reason for the extra game. There is no evidence they lied. Nobody asked them about it until the feds contacted tOSU in December, when they admitted it. I assume that if Tressel had specifically asked them about it earlier, they all would have admitted it in April.

That picture takes me back to the moment when we were dominating Arkansas and my friends and I were standing up yelling like that in our apartment. Then we heard buckeye fans in the apartments above/below us letting out the same yell of victory/domination at the same times. Oh yes, that day was great. We didn't finish the game as well as we should have, but I think TP showed us that he will go down as one of the best TOSU QB's of all time.

To think, he was 16 seconds away (Anderson Russell missed tackle) from winning the Fiesta Bowl. If he leads this team to another BCS Bowl win this year, he easily goes down in my mind as one of the best to don the QB Position in the Scarlet and Gray. Hopefully, time proves that he has matured into the man of integrity and the leader that the coaches claim he is. I know he has drastically grown as a young man while he has been here, and I'm happy to say he's our Quarterback. GO BUCKS!!!

Then use the quote function rather than saying Kyle's comment was right, especially when actually quoted him as saying "tOSU players were asked and lied"...that would prevent confusion.

Gruden still likes Pryor, assesses OSU QB situation

By TIM MAY
Jon Gruden said before he came to town he had not ruled out Ohio State?s Terrelle Pryor getting a chance to play quarterback in the NFL, and after spending three days with the OSU coaching staff and players, he stood by that assessment this morning.
?Yeah, I do. I really do,? said the former Super Bowl-winning coach, now an analyst for ESPN and ABC. ?Again, I?m accused of liking too many people ? ?Gruden likes everybody.? Well, sorry about that. (But the late Super Bowls-winning coach) Bill Walsh used to say, ?Don?t tell me what this guy can?t do. Tell me what he can do.?
?And I tell you, Terrelle Pryor can run and he can throw. And he?s a helluva competitor. And if I coached him I?d find something for him to do. You might have to cater your offense to a degree towards his strengths. But I think this guy can develop his passing the more you pass the ball. And I think the guy is a unique, rare talent.
?His won-loss record (31-4 as a starter, three Big Ten titles, two BCS game MVP awards) speaks for itself. He?s not playing against choir boys here. This is a guy who has dominated college football.?
Gruden had just delivered a stirring presentation to the several thousand coaches who had gathered in the Schottenstein Center for the Ohio State football coaches clinic, and he stopped to talk with the media on his way out.
?I?ve been here since Wednesday and I am kind of glad to be leaving because they have worn me out, man,? Gruden said. ?I?ve been over there at the facility from 5 o?clock in the morning ?til about 11 o?clock at night. Nick (Siciliano), the quarterbacks coach and myself, and I have met Terrelle Pryor and had a chance to watch him. I know he?s injured right now (recovering from a right injury suffered in the Sugar Bowl that has kept him out of spring drills), and he?s going through a lot, but this is a freak of nature. This guy is really something with the ball in his hands.
?You can run the read option. You can put in a pro-style passing attack with this kid. I think he?s going to go through a lot. He?s going to miss football (the first five games of 2011 due to NCAA suspension) and it?s important that he handles his idle time properly. But I like him a lot.?

How could anyone not assume that every post on a message board was made in perfect chronological order referencing the prior post?

My bad.

Jon Gruden says Pryor is 'freak of nature,' can be NFL quarterback
By Matt Edwards

Published: Friday, April 22, 2011

Jon Gruden said Friday that Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor has "dominated college football" and could make it in the NFL.

"I have met Terrelle Pryor, had a chance to watch him," Gruden told the media after speaking at the 80th annual Ohio State Football Clinic. "This is a freak of nature. This guy is really something with the ball in his hands."

While ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. has made it clear he does not see Pryor making the transition to pro quarterback and that Pryor instead would make a better tight end at the next level, Gruden, Kiper's colleague, disagreed.

"Terrelle Pryor can run and he can throw and he's a hell of a competitor," Gruden said. "You might have to cater your offense, to a degree, towards his strengths, but I think this guy can develop his passing.

"His win-loss record speaks for itself. He's not playing against the choir boys. This is a guy that's dominated college football."
