Wyoming Cowboys (official thread)

50 years ago an incident at Wyoming changed the course of the football program for years. Today, such a protest would've been received much differently. In the end, the coach destroyed his career (deservedly so) and some of the "Black 14" went on to play pro football anyway.

Great school in a great state. Two of my kids went to Colorado State, so I’m not allowed to like Wyo sports teams. Laramie is a nice town, but one time the wind stopped blowing and everybody fell down. :rimshot:

When were your kids at CSU? Their long time LAX coach out there (Flip Naumburg) passed away last spring. He was kind of a pretty big deal, as a founder of the Vail Tourney among other things. Very well liked guy. Never met him personally, but he did string one of my heads. Still have it today and play it every once and a while.

During last summer’s Vail tourney, they hollowed out a ball and put his ashes inside. They put the ball in play in the old mans game. It was pretty awesome. Would have given my left nut to be on the field in this game.

On topic. Yeah, Wyoming is cool. Friend from grad school was a cowboy. She spoke highly of her time there.
