XBox 360 Media Center Extender

Okay, boys. Finally got mine.
I know what you're thinking- why didn't this moron post this in the games forum.
However, this is a "home theatre" inquiry- in using the 360 as an extender it seems some sort of configuration on my computer is preventing the two from communicating through my router. XBox Live is working fine, but the /pcsetup will not recognize. I've called XBox and Linsys probably 10 times each, so I've gone through opening all of the ports, etc. I've even gone as far as trying to have the contacts communicate with no firewall (temporarily) on my router, desktop or McAfee. At any rate, we (XBox, Linsys, and my feeble mind) can't figure it out. Any suggestions for service? I'm thinking of something where someone actually comes over to the house and figures it all out.

Thanks, I love it. Good story behind it, I'll have to post it sometime. Essentially, I can sign onto XBox Live and play, but my NAT is "moderate" instead of "open" like it should be. When I hardwire (directly through the modem), I get the "open" so it leads me to believe it has something to do with the router or computer setting, not the 360. But like I said, I took down my router firewall and everything. When I run the PC Set-up, it says it can't communicate with the XBox at the end. Have you set up yours? If you can figure this out, you need to get a job at XBox because they can't.

No I don't, I don't even have a media center PC. Would love to hear about your story getting it as I see many Best Buys had some camp-outs.

Hmm, I would say make sure you have the newest microsoft service back. I just posted your details on a snotty Xbox hardware site, they're pretty good with this type of stuff. I was going to send you the link to do it, but they are pretty annoying on the treatment of new members posting questions, so I'll just relay you there responses.

Nobody has responded exactly to the info you gave, but here are some of the suggestions they've listed, maybe it will help.

Tyco over at Penny-Arcade had a lot of issue too. Suggest...
You have .NET Framework 1.1 installed on your PC
You have Universal Plug and Play service active on your PC
You have Windows Media Connect started
You don't have Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) enabled (Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connectors is one thing that turn this on)

"I had the same problem.
here is the solution, follow it exactly and I bet you are good to go.
in windows goto start menu then run.
type in services.msc
then when that window pops up.

search for SSDP discovery service and then set the startup type to automatic.

then search for universal plug and play device host and set the startup type to automatic.

you need to do it in order, because you cannot startup UPnP without SSDP running first.

then make sure the windows media connect software is closed and reload it.

windows will see the xbox and the box will see the pc.
goodluck"

"I had a similar problem and mine was fixed by turning on UPNP in my router."
