XBOX 360 on PC Monitor Sound?

CentralMOBuck

Assistant Coach
I have an PC monitor capable of having HDMI input, but it doesn't have any speakers. What is the best way to go about getting my 360 to have it's sound play through my pc speakers?

Also is there an splitter that would allow me to plug both my pc and 360 sound into my speakers? My speaker cable being plugged into my pc uses a 2.5mm jack.
Thanks
Dave

edit: First post was really muddled. Anyway, I do not know anything that will allow for HDMI passthrough. If you have component inputs on your monitor that is the way to go, and you should be able to input the audio component cables into your computer.

360 pluged into monitor - 3D Realms Forums
I do not know of anything that would allow you to input your 360 sound into the computer and then out to the speakers.
They make sound cards that allow multiple inputs, but this would be easier:

RCA to 3.5 mm converter

hook the red/white 360 plugs into it, put the other end into the line in on your PC, and you've got sound.

Yeah, I edited my post. It was kind of muddled. I was mixing HDMI and component inputs without clarifying. In the end if he has component inputs on his monitor that is the way to go. Yet I am not sure if you does or not. A lot of computer monitors are digital inputs only, and I am not sure you can have both HDMI and component out of a 360 (I think the component cable bundle covers up the HDMI...I forget, I will have to look at mine).

edit: Yup, just checked my 360. When the component bundle is hooked up the HDMI port is covered up. So both cannot be used at the same time. So if you monitor only has digital inputs, then you would need some sort of video and audio passthrough.

edit 2: Looks like they make component to digital converters. So you would need to use the component out on your XBox 360, then get the audio input splitter linked by jwinslow and then a component to digital converter. If you have more than one DVI connector that would be easy. If not, HDMI would be a little tougher. Just give a heads up on what inputs your monitor has and I can give you specifics.
