After years of resistance, I can no longer hold off on getting the kids a computer game system. Resistance is now futile and I must get one for Christmas. Look, I'm 47 and don't know sheot about video games other than Asteroids and Pong. So, any tips from anyone on which is better, cost is not an issue. The only qualification I have, is I want to be able to play those WWII video games named Band of Brothers or something - otherwise, the kids can fend for themselves with their games. So, what's the latest and what's the best so I can walk in the store and buy it without dealing with the salespeople and their opinions.

if its between xbox and ps2, there is no competition. ps2 used to have more titles, but xbox has caught up big time. better graphics, much better load times (xbox saves games and simulates thru a season in NCAA Football 5 to 10 times faster).

if its between xbox 360 and ps3, that's an interesting debate, especially since there are almost no 360's available for purchase (after christmas this may change) due to incredible demand. The ps3 is rumored to come out next year, but I haven't heard a debate. It is supposed to have better specs, but its hard to compare the two right now.

The 360 controllers are even sleeker (easier to reach all of the buttons):

I'd go with the Xbox.

You won't have to waste AT LEAST 20 dollars getting memory cards because it stores on the harddrive, as opposed to the Playstation2.

The games... X-Box has just as good of games currently. JWinslow has already said, the graphics and load times are better on Xbox. The only problem with the games is that, there won't be hardly any games made for thesystem anymore because Microsoft just released there Xbox 360 (xbox 2). You're kids would love that, but the core sucks and the premium is $399.99 so that might not be an option. Call of Duty 2 for 360 is the best WW2 game out there right now also.

The good and bad news about the Xbox1- with few games coming out for it anymore that will be worthwhile (there are about 3 that I can think of that should be exciting titles) it might make your kids angry because they have no new games ot look forward to coming out. THE PLUS SIDE - Microsoft is done witht his system so all of those games will drop in price to Very affordable games very soon. If you get them the Xbox I don't recommend getting them any 50 dollar videogame (unless its the Halo 3 game value pack) because I can assure you that the prices will drop and quickly as they'll want to get the software out of stores to make room for the Xbox 360 games..

The PLAYSTATION will have new games for about a year long, but as I said be prepared for spending 20-40 dollars more to buy memory cards; and recieving slightly worse graphics and worse load times.

If it were up to me, i'd recommend the Xbox. The Xbox 360 (not the core pack, you'll likely have to wait until January to get this) if you can afford to shell out $399. Otherwise get the Xbox.

Looks like the consensus is XBOX. Does anyone know if I can get the "Brothers In Arms" game for XBOX? Thanks for all the info, I know where I can get one tomorrow without a problem as long as I can get the WWII games ("Call to Duty", "Brothers" etc.).
