XBox360 -- Want a Free (or Nearly Free) HD-DVD Drive?

Watson, Crick & A Twist
This is only good till December 31st.
Figured this deserved a new thread. And, no this is not a litany of components available via fund transfer to some obscure Nigerian Bank. :tongue2:

This is real, though I suspect it may be most feasible for those in and near a MicroCenter store (Sharonville, Mayfield Heights and Columbus are three in Ohio). Others are listed here. I do not know if you can swing this online.

Anyway - here goes.

MicroCenter is running a special in light of opening their new gaming system center, a store within a store, in their Cincinnati/Sharonville Store on Mulhauser (just off I-75).

Buy either a Premium or Core XBox360 System get $100 rebate - basically get a Premium for the cost of a Core system, $299, post rebate, or a Core for just $199.

Kicker is this, open up one of their Store brand Visa accounts and as long as the total spent is $399+ then on the first statement you redeem a code to get another $100 rebate.

I do believe they are giving these accounts to anyone with a pulse, reasonable credit, and a daytime job.

So buy a Core or Premium System and also get the HD-DVD unit - itself normally $200. (they still have the combos in stock with King Kong), guaranteed above the mark for the CC offer, $100 back, and another $100 off by rebate on the X-Box system. Net result, free or nearly free HD-DVD drive.

As it is MicroCenter they offer many other pieces of hardware that have $100 off if you already have an XBox360, but simply needed a better monitor or some other piece that takes you into the right cost range for that extra rebate.

Either way, it is a good deal. This is only good till December 31st.

Bear in mind that HD-DVD players themselves typically go for between $450-600, plus you can coax this unit to play on your PC (albeit as yet in less than 1080p resolution) I think this is the best of deals.
