We were already on probation when this stuff occured. Repeat offender. That is a factor. You have your opinion, I have mine. I don't think it's unfair, nor do I think it's all that big of a deal. The Tressel thing sucks, but has no impact on tOSU. He made his bed...

I mostly agree. If we were led to expect a bowl ban to be announced today, fine. But to have everyone thinking were in the clear and would probably have no worse than a couple more scholarships tacked on is frustrating as hell.

My frustration with the NCAA stems particularly from the timing of this announcement, but also with the fact that different teams play by different rules. State schools are subject to FOIA requests while private aren't? So we have ESPN, Yahoo!, and God only knows who else digging through our dumpsters but they can't touch PSU or USC or whoever? It's bullshit that different players have different rules. Especially when the NCAA uses these reports to start investigating programs.

Also, I do have to say that it seems that there has been some burden of proof standard applied to OSU that others (Auburn) haven't faced. In my IMO, part of the punishment is based on person X's and Pryor's refusals to testify. But they can't punish Auburn for people refusing to testify when they don't even have a starting point. Could be completely wrong here.

the ncaa can get f'd. should have been no bowl ban. if they felt it was necessary to make a bold statement, the bowl ban should have been this year.

Gene Smith must go.

and to the players that did this....not all fans hate you. you guys played your hearts out and you made mistakes. We all have(especially at that age). it is time to forgive and move on.

since I live and work in SEC country(only 30 miles from Alabama). All the Alabama fans think it is crazy what is going on at tOSU. They are like "is that all you guys did. Worse shit goes on in the SEC everyday. You guys need to learn to cheat better."

I feel terrible for the seniors next year. They had nothing to do with this shit and they are getting the hammer.

My feelings on the guys that did this are pretty well documented, so let me just say that I hope that Herron, Posey, Adams and the rest of them are happy. And I hope that they enjoy THEIR bowl game.

Unreal the way this has turned out, just fucking unreal.

Absolute joke by Gene Smith and the NCAA. First off Gene should have done what I was calling for and what Miami did which was self impose a bowl ban this year, but no Gene had to get every cent out of the Gator Bowl. NCAA is a joke for making the ruling now instead of two weeks ago when we could have imposed the bowl ban this year thus choosing to punish John Simon and the new staff instead of the people that caused this mess

I don't see why it shouldn't matter what bowl the team is in or what their record is it would make perfect sense to ban us this year

As an outsider to the Buckeye family, I feel that the world is a safer place today knowing that you all have been punished justly for the horrendous wrongs you have wrought upon college football - nay, on AMERICA!

How can we as a society justify allowing the Buckeyes among us to walk freely after what they did. Punishment is the only way to right these wrongs, punishment swift and severe and meted out with righteous indignation.

This wasn't overkill by the NCAA at all. Nope. Not one little bit.

I expected we'd lose 15 scholies over 3 years so 9 is actually a pleasant surprise. The one year bowl ban is disappointing, but not shocking. Neither of those things will bring us down.

I'm just glad the decision is made. We know our circumstances, and can move forward with one of the best coaches in the country. There are over 100 schools out there who would love to be in our shoes, including some who will never admit it.

So what's the goal next season? Go undefeated and tell the world to kiss our scarlet and gray asses. If that comes up short, just beat Michigan. I've seen many here say we could lose every other game but as long as we beat Michigan its all good. Well, next season will be even better.
