I'm separating this post because it's my opinion.

I think the NCAA will end up making tOSU vacate wins for the 2010 season. Previously, I didn't think that would happen.

I'm guessing that since the AD and the University weren't aware of anything until December, and since tOSU is NOT being hit with "Failure to Monitor", that there won't be any taking away of future postseason games.

But I think the NCAA will come down with something more for JT, perhaps severe limitations for contacting recruits for a year or something like that. But I'm guessing that any additional penalties will be aimed specifically at JT, and not at tOSU in general.

I'm not sure about scholarship reductions. Due to the possibility of the 'repeat offender' thing, that's a possibility.

The Notice states that the players won't receive any further penalties.

I hope you are correct. But it doesn't make sense to me how we could not lose post season particpation but we could lose scholarships.

Purdue University football player who attacked two female students on campus in 2005 was convicted Thursday night on five of six criminal counts.

Kyle D. Williams, 20, of Bolingbrook, Ill., is guilty of one count of attempted rape, two counts of confinement and two counts of battery in connection with the attacks that took place about 90 minutes apart the night of Nov. 29, 2005

the NCAA puts its all on JT. So if OSU doesn't fire JT the NCAA will make sure his job will be brutal to put up with....great...

If Tress did NOT notify Smith, Gee, and/or compliance then the blame should rest on him alone. I've been one of Tressel's staunchest supporters through this ordeal and have thought that he is falling on the sword for his "superiors." If this is not the case and Tressel really tried to sweep this under the rug, then I have serious doubts as to whether he should be the coach at OSU.

I personally think they knew and are trying their best to avoid the dreaded "lack of institution control" label which would hurt a lot more.

Someone shed some light for me, who knows more about this than I do. What's this report that Tress contacted the FBI. if that in fact is true, what if the FBI told him to keep hush about the situation for the FBI investigation. If that happened, hypothetically, what would be the outcome of that. NCAA lessen penalty, etc?

Speculation on teh Twitters by Staples, Mandel, et. al. is noting that the NCAA is asking about the B10 TV deal which is a precursor to consideration of a TV ban due to the 'repeat offender' thing.

Ooof.
