Welcome to The Show! Every Tuesday, ESPN recruiting analyst Tom Lemming will drop by to talk about the future crop of college stars, as well as how some recent top recruits are faring on campus. Send your questions now and join The Show on Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET!

sn.gif
The ShowGirl: (1:00 PM ET ) As promised, Tom Lemming will be joining us at 1 ET. Send in those questions now!

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:06 PM ET ) Hello everybody, we're finishing up the college football season, that means recruiting will soon be in full swing! This weekend is the first big official visit weekend, nearly every school will have some prospects to impress.

Josh (Sacramento): Mr. Lemming, looks like Nebraska had some big names in town for the Colorado game last week. With 19 verbals, where do you see the staff focusing their efforts as they fill out their class?

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:13 PM ET ) The Huskers are on their way to what could be the nation's No. 1 recruiting class. It looks like their efforts are focussed on great athletes like Barry Turner, N. Suh, Nyan Botang, Jarrell Powe, Reggie Smith, Chris Scott and several more.

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:14 PM ET ) Right now there is a real strong chance that Nebraska will end up with the best class in the country this year.

Bob (Chicago): Hey Tom, Has signing a contract extension helped Kirk Ferentz and Iowa at all on the recruiting trail and how is the Hawk class shaping up?

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:15 PM ET ) I believe that has allowed him to deal more with recruiting rather than rumors that he is off to the NFL. Right now, Iowa could be in line to have the best year they've had in the last twenty. They have a legit shot at finishing in the top 10.

Blair (Fort Wayne): How bout a Gamecock update?? Have you talked to Olson lately and if so, what do you think the chances are of him coming to Columbia? And just how good is he?? Thanks Tom....I look forward to this every week.

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:17 PM ET ) I guess you mean Ben Olson -- the No. 1 player three years ago -- who signed with BYU then went on a Mormon mission and has yet to play football. He has been talking about not going back to BYU, Steve Spurrier could have a good shot at Ben, who has yet to confirm any favorite.

Greg ( Mpls,MN): Hey Tom, what have you heard of Walker Ashley?

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:21 PM ET ) Right now he's my top prospect for the state of Minnesota. He has had a very good senior year, his father Lee Ashley was an All-American at Penn State and then played pro ball with the Vikings. Walker recently had an oustanding visit to USC but Minnesota and Penn State are still very much in the picture.

Shawn (Secaucus): Who are some of NJ's best recruits and any chance of them staying in state at Rutgers?

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:23 PM ET ) The best players in NJ are Eugene Monroe -- who has already committed to Virginia. Brian Cushing -- who is leaning toward USC and Notre Dame. Jerome Hayes -- who may consider Rutgers but is looking more towards Florida, Michigan State, Miami, Michigan and Maryland. Michael Ray Garvin is looking at Rutgers but chances are good he'll go out of state. Rutgers, unfortunately, may be headed towards a below-average recruiting year.

Bill (Philly): Tom, Have you heard anything about the 2 big tackles from Philly Slocum and Hand. Where they might be headed?

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:24 PM ET ) Slocum may be headed to either Michigan or Michigan State. Darell Hand has yet to narrow his list.

Bob (Chicago IL): Is there any possibility that Christensen would break his commitment to Iowa in favor of Illinois if his father was hired as the recruiting director?

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:26 PM ET ) I doubt it. I think Christensen is very solid with Iowa. No matter what happens at Illinois, it's my belief that Jake will stay a Hawkeye.

Ryan (Tampa): Of the potential candidates rumored to be linked to Florida, which one would help recruiting out the most and at what point does not having a coach hurt recruiting?

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:28 PM ET ) I think that if there is not a coach in place within the next 10 days, Fla recruiting will be hurt. They need at least one recruiting weekend in Decmember to stabalize their situation. If they wait until after the holidays, the majority of prospects will either be committed or committed to other visits. Urban Meyer would do the best job recruiting, in my opinion.

Rob (DC): Tom, the rumors have been swirling that Fred Rouse has contacted Penn State. Any truth to those rumors, and what are the chances Penn State has with the WR's they are targeting (Williams, Botang, Lymon, Rouse)? Thanks.

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:30 PM ET ) Ironically, Fred called me at 5:55 this a.m. my time to talk recruiting. Penn State was not one of the schools he brought up to me but that does not mean he is not interested. As for the other guys, I believe Williams to Oklahoma, Botang to Neb and Fred Rouse to either FSU, LSU or Texas.

sn.gif
The ShowGirl: (1:30 PM ET ) Breaking news: Ty Willingham will not return as ND head coach.

lucky (ireland): willingham out at nd? how will that effect the recruiting world? how does it affect their current class? would urban myeer possibly go to nd and screw up florida?

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:33 PM ET ) Yes, the first person ND will probably go after is Urban Meyer ... and then maybe Kirk Ferentz. Notre Dame is having a decent recruiting year, but I think that with a coaching change, they could wind up with a very good year.

A.J. (Chicago): Would Meyer choose ND over UF?

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:35 PM ET ) Yes, in fact he has a Notre Dame out-clause in his contract.

Brad (Atlanta): What about Butch Davis to ND?? It's close to Cleveland (he wouldn't have to move far) and just a step below the NFL.

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:36 PM ET ) I think Butch to ND would be a bad fit.

Brad (Cincy): Tom, any updates on Greg Paulus?

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:40 PM ET ) Great question. Yes, in fact, during this chat I just received a call from his father Dave. He said the situation at Notre Dame is very interesting and they are keeping their eye on who will be named. This turn of events greatly enhances ND's chances of landing one of the nation's top two prospects. Gregg grew up a big Notre Dame fan and, with the right new head coach, ND has a great version of landing this high school version of Joe Montana.

Bob (Chicago): Would Ferentz leave Iowa for ND?

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:43 PM ET ) Good question, ND athletic director Kevin White gave Kirk his first head coaching job at Maine. The two have maintained a close relationship over the years.

Sean (Boise): Would ND look at Dan Hawkins?

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:44 PM ET ) I doubt it. Personality may not be a good fit.

Nick (saugerties, NY): If Butch Davis takes the Florida job, how much will that change the recruiting landscapein Florida?

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:47 PM ET ) Depends on if he retains some of Zook's assistant coaches. Davis' name is now not a strong college name any more mainly b/c the way he left the Hurricanes just a couple days before signing day. He will have to work on gaining the trust of the university and college football fans in general. That said, I do believe Butch at Florida would be a very good fit. He's familiar with the state, recruiting-wise and that could help UF finish strong this year.

Rob (Royal Oak, MI): Hey Tom, Michigan has visits from two Florida commits, Avery Atkins and Jonathan Gardner. Is there any chance Michigan can pull these guys away from the Gators?

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:50 PM ET ) Mich might have an outside chance of landing those two players but once the new UF coach is named, look for the Gators to hang on to both.

Josh (Sacramento): Josh Portis to ND? I would guess that Urban Meyer lost out on a ton of blue-chippers simply because he was at Utah. A move to ND would change that, and he would get in every living room in the country, right? Uh oh! Here come the Domers!

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:52 PM ET ) Josh Portis to South Bend -- possibly, but more likely, Gregg Paulus. Yes, if Meyer or Ferentz get the job, here come The Irish!

Ray (South Bend): Will the Irish take a look at Bill Callahan? Would his Chicago roots tempt him to come to South Bend?

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:52 PM ET ) A year ago, yes, most definitely. But now, Callahan is dedicated to bringing the Cornhuskers to the BCS in a couple of years.

Brad (Atlanta): Tom, Do you think ND needs to join a conference in order improve their recruiting and stay competative nationally? I just feel like Notre Dame doesn't have the same recruiting luster that it had just a decade ago.

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:54 PM ET ) Absolutely not. No conference necessary. With a great recruiter and coach, Notre Dame will flourish as an independent.

sn.gif
Tom Lemming: (1:55 PM ET ) Thanks for logging in today. Get all of your Notre Dame, Stanford, Florida and Illinois questions ready for next Tuesday. We'll see how everything shakes out and come back next week! Thanks again! Take care!

This just makes me sick all he talks about is notre lame. I thought he was supposed to be a recruting guru not how great notre lame is. Hell he doesnt even know Walker Ashley has a visit set up to Ohio St. as there is no mention of them in the question asked about him. He is a tool that is why he is employed by ESPIN. Maybe he thinks if he talks up Notre Lame that people will actually want to go there. If I am not mistaken he has said many things before about how much he liked TW.

What's going to be fun, is listening to the same old tired slop that came out when Willingham was announced as the next coach.

With Notre Dame fans, their "return to the elite" is always just a season away. All they talked about was how Willingham was going to get them there, now all the talk will be Meyer or whoever they manage to talk into that job. Within a couple seasons, when the next coach can't fix ND's problems, he'll be run out of town just as abruptly, and the next "savior" will be elevated to sainthood.

I'm not a Notre Dame fan, but I think that if they hire Urban Meyer, Notre Dame becomes a major player once again. I think he's a special coach--one of only a few out there. Luckily, we have one that isn't going anywhere anytime soon in Tressel.

edit: I forgot to mention that Lemming's a douche.

I tend to believe that what keeps them wallowing in mediocrity is more about the institution itself, than it is who is leading their program.

Tyrone isn't a bad coach, concur that Urban could be an unusually gifted one, but I'm still less than convinced that he'll "restore" ND. I bet he at least gets enough time to field a team comprised of his own players though. Something Willingham wasn't afforded.

I'm sure some Domers will scoff at my skepticism, just like they did when I reacted the same way to Willingham's hiring.

But all that aside, I don't think Urban to ND is the lock most seem to think it is.

Lumming is a tool, I get irked reading how manipulative he is trying to be with Greg Paulus. Didn't he read the article where GP said he would have committed to Thad Matta if he was anywhere else but Xavier?

I still am hoping Kyle Lamb can make contact with GP. OSU is a sleeper in this race....

I hate Lemming. The guy will always be famous in my mind for saying he saw tape of a recruit that someone totally made up.

HOWEVER, that skank running the interview cut in and gave the breaking news. After that, the Willingham questions just flooded in. All he does is answer them. He answers them like a jackoff, but I blame that stupid slut for dropping in with that pearl of shit to fuck up a normally shitty interview.
