Zurp

I have misplaced my pants.
I see that we already have a bazillion pick 'em games going. So what's one more?

Anyway, mine is similar to the one I had for all the bowl games last year. I'll do it for all of the games that involve Big Ten teams. Unfortunately, there are two teams playing tonight, so that may be too short notice to be included in this game. So let's start with Saturday's games.

The way you play is simple: pick the winner of each game, and the score. Your predictions will be graded with a scoring system:

1. For every point off the total score your prediction is, you get 1 point.
2. For every point off the margin of victory your prediction is, you get 2 points.

(For those of you who played last year for the bowl season, I've changed those from 0.1 to 1, and 0.2 to 2, and I don't have the 5 point penalty for picking the wrong winner.)

Edit (10/30/06): I never thought of having a rule like this. But, I've been forced to create this rule. If you do not predict the score of one of the games, your pick will officially be 0-0. Make sure you pick ALL of the games.

Obviously, points are bad. A score of 0 is perfect. (No bonus for correctly picking the score.) Each week, I'll total up all the points for each game that you get, and the one with the lowest score, wins (duh!)

Then (and here's the fun part), to keep track of week-by-week standings, you GET one point for every person that you scored better than who actually played that week. So if 10 people gave me predictions, whoever wins gets 9 points, 2nd place gets 8, and so on. So if you forget to send in predictions, you get 0 points, and you're most likely tied with me. At the end of the season (before bowl games), whoever has the most points wins my guarantee that I won't poop on your front porch.

If you want to play, reply with your predictions. If you don't, then that's less work for me.

Season standings:

Week 7 games:

Purdue at Northwestern
Iowa at Indiana
Minnesota at Wisconsin
Ohio State at Michigan State
Ohio at Illinois
Michigan at Penn State

Picks are due by noon on Saturday. Or kick-off. Whichever comes first.

Even if you haven't made picks for any games, yet, this season, you can still play. Just post your picks, and you'll get a score, and then you can talk some trash.

One other thing worth mentioning: for the margin of victory, it does matter which team wins. For instance, here's one of my predictions:

Vanderbilt 17
Michigan 35

If Vanderbilt wins 35-17, I get 0 points for the total score part of the scoring, but I was off by 36 points in the margin of victory part. (I picked Michigan to win by 18, but they lost by 18.)

If anyone wants to edit his/her picks because of this, then go right ahead.

That changes everything for me. Can I edit my picks Saturday night?
