Jonah Pirsig Learns More About the U After Tuesday Visit
Football Recruiting
by Chris Monter February 25, 2011

Jonah Pirsig, a 6-foot-9, 285-pound junior left tackle/defensive end from Blue Earth (MN) High, visited Minnesota Tuesday and attended the Golden Gopher-Michigan State game that night. Pirsig has already attracted four Big Ten offers and could end up the state?s most highly recruited player from the Class of 2012. GopherHole.com caught up with Pirsig Wednesday night to learn the latest on his Minnesota visit.

Pirsig attended the Minnesota home games versus USC, Northern Illinois and Iowa. He made Big Ten trips to Madison for the Ohio State-Wisconsin game and Iowa City for the Hawkeyes-Badgers and Ohio State-Iowa contests.

Pirsig helped lead Blue Earth to a 6-4 mark. They defeated Belle Plaine 35-0 in the first round of the Class 3A Section 2 playoffs before losing to Minneapolis Washburn 40-13.

GopherHole.com caught up with Pirsig Wednesday night to learn the latest on his Minnesota visit.

GH: How did the visit go?

JP: It was fun. Got to met a lot of people and new faces. I learned a lot more about the U of M.

GH: Coach Limegrover and Coach Kill were with you at the basketball game. Who else did you get to meet and talk to?

JP: We met a lot of guys, didn?t really get to visit with most of them, but we spend quite a bit of time with the quarterback coach. Briefly met with the strength and conditioning coach. Got to meet the President of the U of M

GH: Does that give you a better feeling about Minnesota after spending time at the school and with the coaches?

JP: Yes, it does. It really helps a face to all the guys I?ve been talking to over the phone. Getting to know them a lot better.

GH: What are your plans for the next couple of weeks? Any other schools you are going to go to for Junior Days or for visits?

JP: I was invited to Iowa and Nebraska for Junior Days. That is this weekend, but I am not so sure that I?ll be going to either of them. There is section wrestling in town, so I?ll probably watch a bunch of my buddies wrestle this weekend. We?ll probably be going out to Ohio State and Michigan State in March soemtime

GH: Have you thought about when you?d like to make a decision at all or are you a ways from that?

JP: Still quite a ways away. The only school I?ve seen more than for football was Wisconsin so far, since I didn?t see much about academics at Iowa. The only school that I really know right now is Wisconsin.

GH: Are you still going to plan on going to some summer camps and then making a decision?

JP: I?ll be going to camps. I know that I wouldn?t be making my decision before that. I might have to even wait even longer than this fall to make my decision. I?ll try to go to as many camps as I can to get better.

GH: Which camps do you think that you are definitely going to go to?

JP: Definitely, the Minnesota Big Man Camp and then down to Iowa for the Prospect Camp. I?ll be out to Wisconsin for the three-day camp. Maybe down to Nebraska for a camp. Maybe Ohio State and then I?ll probably do the Madden Academy down in Florida.

Rivals$--Pirsig reflects on trip to Columbus

More of the same but Jonah also says the recent issues with JT actually are favorable to him because it displays JTs loyalty.

I've been thinking about this angle. Not can JT display loyalty, but also humility, sincerity, and many of the additional qualities that seperate him from other college coaches.
