'13 FL TE Mike Heuerman (Notre Dame Verbal)

Real question is will OSU continue to pursue? ND is destined to have another awful season, and Kelly will firmly be on the hot seat IMO.

Almost certain Impending awful season aside, I think you have to look at the fact that TE has been a strong position for ND in recent years. The last three starting TE's for Notre Dame have each been picked up in the 2nd round, and their current TE is considered by many to be the best in the country. You may not come to South Bend to win championships, but you're guaranteed to get the ball a lot as a TE and get exposure.

Not sure if it has been said, but if Mike redshirted a year, Jeff would be a Senior and thus not really competing him against for very long before Jeff graduated. Hard for me to really believe that was a biggest reason he went elsewhere. Congrats to him though, Notre Dame is a solid choice for TEs, as they have several guys in the NFL at this position.

Why would Mike redshirt?

If playing and competing for PT with his brother would have been that difficult for him to deal with, and he really loved OSU, then this would create seperation between them.

I am sure he is talented enough to play though, and would rather not RS.

Plus, I see Jeff as a traditional TE and Mike as an H-back, so I'm not sure they would have competed at all.

I think committing to ND pretty much resolves that one.

Good luck to the kid, but more than that I don't care. On to the next.

Agree completely. Obviously he felt ND was a better place, so good for him. We have TEs on the roster, so I am not overly concerned, and we probably replace his spot in this class for Josh McNeil. I have read a lot about how competing with Jeff played a big part in not coming to OSU, so I was just stating a logical scenario of why it really is not a factor.

I would say your proposed solution to the problem wasn't a good one. Asking a kid as talented as Mike to redshirt is sort of a big deal.

Thanks, but it was A solution to one of Mike's concerns. Obviously he wasn't wanting to redshirt. Good luck to him at ND.
