2006 McDonald's All-American Game

Defense still wins Championships
March 29, 2006 @ 10PM EST
playing in San Diego, CA

3-point contest and dunk contest will be performed on March 27 and will supposedly be televised AFTER the game.

Oden, Conley, and Cook are all rumored to be in the game. Weren't rosters supposed to be announced this evening?

I saw the rosters on television last night, but I cannot for the life of me find them listed anywhere on the internet. It seemed very similar, if not identical, to this unofficial list posted a couple of days ago.

Could someone explain to me how Daequan Cook plays for the West, but Conley and Oden play for the East? Kevin Durant (of Suitland, Maryland) is also on the West roster. Curious geography these days. :)

wooooo, i saw the roster of the east team last night scroll on the bottom of ESPN and didn't see cook's name on it. I was dumbfounded but I am now glad to see he is still in the game! Should be very exciting to watch. When will the dunk contest contestants, say that three times fast, be announced and would cook be a possiblity?

The past two McDonald's All American Games were practically worthless exercises for college basketball die-hards; each game featured seven players who declared for the NBA draft without stepping on campus. But because of the new age minimum instituted by the league, this game (March 29, 10 p.m. ET, ESPN) again is worth watching.

The big man. Greg Oden is the most celebrated high school player who will go to college in, what -- forever? You've read about him; see what all the fuss is over.

Ohio State vs. North Carolina. The Buckeyes (Oden, Mike Conley and Daequan Cook) and Tar Heels (Tywon Lawson, Brandan Wright and Wayne Ellington) are represented quite well. Ohio State generally is regarded as having the best 2006 haul, but some recruitniks like Carolina's better.
Decide for yourself.

Score one for the little guy. Demond "Tweety" Carter is a 5-10, 170-pound bundle of energy who has piled up a prodigious scoring total at Reserve (La.) Christian. He'll be the first Mickey D's alum to attend, get this, Baylor. Seeing double. Remember when Stanford had Jason and Jarron Collins? Next season, the Cardinal will have another set of true twin towers: Brook and Robin Lopez from Fresno, Calif.
