2009 Heisman Trophy discussion

If the award really goes to the best player in the country then should be an easy decision for the voters.

Devin Gardner?

He needs a little more time with Barwis before he can pick up the statue.

Say it with me;

Zoltan. Mesko.

First punter to win the Heisman.

Paint the endzones.

Kind of hard to justify Tebow even getting the invite (the latest numbers project him at 9.7%).

Yep, the guy was lucky to even be all conference. ESPN didn't have him on their first team. I fail to understand how a QB who is a debatable all conference selection can seriously be in the Heisman finals.

Final update from Stiffarmtrophy, Saturday, 2 am pst.

Our final projection: Mark Ingram, in a close one.

We're now up to 313 ballots, 33.8% of all the ballots.

And on those 313 ballots, we project that Mark Ingram will earn 1336 points - or 48.1% of the maximum 2778 possible.
We're now projecting that Toby Gerhart will earn 1241 points - or 44.7% of the max possible.
Ndamukong Suh will earn 1188 points - or 42.8% of the max possible.
Colt McCoy comes in at 939 points, or 33.8%;
and Tim Tebow comes in at 295 points, or 10.6%.

Every time I am reminded of exactly who the past winners are or find out who other voters are I get very sad.

After hearing Danielson quoting Gino F Torreta and seeing what that dumb fuck from Tennessee said earlier this week I am fully prepared for a complete debacle tonight.

If it's anyone other than McCoy or Tebow I'll be shocked. Ingram will be the lesser of three evils.

Should be between Gerhart and Suh but neither plays QB or RB for a top 5 team and had a lot of exposure in previous years so they are automatically disqualified.

I don't know Jax, those projections are from the ballots that are already in. All things are indicating Colt and Timmah will finish 4 and 5. Looks like it's Ingram's award, which I really don't have a big problem with. Personally, I'd give it to Suh followed closely by Gerhart, but Ingram's been pretty damn good this year too.

That said, if Tebow or McCoy win it, I'll probably never watch it again unless a Buckeye is involved. I'll definately be unable to take it the least bit serious.

I heard Danielson mention that Toretta said the voting was tied with about 40 minutes remaining before the e-mails were due.

What was said by a guy fronm Tennessee?
