2011 SEC Football Discussion

The wheel was invented in the 4th millennium BC. It allowed the use of onager or human drawn carts.

Since that time, man has used the wheel and the wheeled vehicles to move himself and his family to warmer climates where you do not die of the cold if one is locked outdoors. Other benefits of moving south include the ability to be outdoors and active year round, for the woman of your culture to appear damn near naked more of the time, and for the men to be able to fish without having to drill holes in the thick ice.

The negative of moving south is occasional bouts with tropical weather, and having your former friends and family up north want to visit you all the time while braying about how things are better "back home", even though they never seem to want to stay there during vacation time.

If the weather's too nice, the women will want to go fishing too. That's where ice fishing makes it's mark.
The other negatives of moving south like to eat pople, bite people and rip the roof off their house while dumping feet of rain inside. It's also harder to get back home when you're drunk if you can't smell Michigan on the breeze, it's like the North Star. Plus, most of the people up here can't drive worth a shit in their prime, and we send them to you guys when they can't see anymore.

it is not strictly won/loss record, but I stated previously I'm too god dam lazy to plug in all of our opponents and all of our opponents opponents and all of their records to figure out the whole thing.

but since won loss is 2/3 of the equation, and most of our opponents are the same damn teams (except we get multi-national champ Florida, while y'all get the Arky of the east in So. Carolina) we really don't have to go through all of that mess.

Plain and simple playing against LSU 2003-2010 is worth more points to SoS than playing Arky over the same stretch.

So, you're too lazy to try and prove me wrong. Check.

You also play Tulane, LaMo, LaLa and LaTech regularly. I'd say that you got more to worry about than poor little old Arkansas dragging your SOS down.

Is that really supposed to be smack?

"We're almost as good as you over a 75-year period!"

And OSU was more than a few plays better than Arky this January: a near-miss is still a miss.

:osu:

Well, I wasn't going to point it out, but tOSU is #28 on that same list.

And I was being generous. OSU was ONE play better than Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl.

The hell of it is, Arkansas had about 6 chances to make that one play and couldn't get it done.

So, congratulations on your Sugar Bowl win of 2011.

dude, y'all played an LSU team that ranks in the top 5 for the last decade.
we played an Arky team that falls somewhere outside the top 25 for the last decade.

if you can't see that playing LSU boosts an SoS more than playing against Arky does, you'd be too stupid to read the chart if I made one for you.

we've played ULM twice. in our entire history.

OK, say I'm willing to do the work for your lazy coonass and figure it out.

I'll concede that we'll flip positions, but I don't think there will be a significant shift.

What's your prediction on the changes in position - meaning, where do you think LSU and Arkansas will end up on the list?

You played LaMo in 2003 and 2010 - both of which are within the period in question.

No need to do the work then.
My argument all along was that playing us is what allowed y'all to finish ahead of LSU.

None other than that we would jump Arky.
I'm curious to see the results if you do it though.

I'm not denying that we played them.
Just pointing out that "regularly" probably isn't the best word to describe how often it happens.

Fair enough then.

I'll see you in Red Stick the day after Thanksgiving.

As what seems to have become the norm, I expect a lot to be riding on that game and I expect that Bobby Petrino will have Les Miles number.

Again.
