2014 OSU Baseball discussion

20-4?? That's ridiculous. I was actually quite pleased that every game so far had been a decent game, even in the losses. This one is quite a bad blemish.

yeah um .......I got nuttin....that's horrible. on a brighter note very cool for Ryan!

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ryan Riga, a junior left-hander on the Ohio State baseball team, has been named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. The award is the second Pitcher of the Week honor for Riga after garnering the laurel Feb. 18.
Riga was brilliant in a complete-game shutout of No. 9 Oregon Saturday, striking out a career-high 10 while walking one and scattering five hits to improve to 2-0 on the season. The complete game shutout by Riga was the first by a Buckeye in exactly one year....

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Ohio State baseball team dropped a 4-3 decision at No. 7 Oregon State Tuesday evening at Goss Stadium in Corvallis, Ore. With the loss, the Buckeyes fall to 8-6 on the season while the Beavers improve to 15-3.
The Buckeyes struck early against Oregon State starter Jake Thompson. In the top of the first, Pat Porter walked and Jacob Bosiokovic was hit by a pitch before Ronnie Dawson blooped a single into center to plate Porter for the 1-0 Ohio State lead. Thompson struck out Josh Dezse for the second out of the inning but Troy Montgomery stroked a two-run double to deep right to score Bosiokovic and Dawson to push the Ohio State lead to 3-0.
The Beavers knotted it up with three runs off Ohio State starter Jake Post in the bottom of the second. Oregon State loaded the bases with one down when a fly ball got lost in the sun and a walk and a single ensued before Logan Ice plated Dylan Davis with a sacrifice fly to center. A walk to Trevor Morrison then loaded the bases once again with two down for Andy Peterson. Post got Peterson to hit a grounder to second but Troy Kuhn’s throw was low and allowed a pair of runs to score to make it a 3-3 game.....

Notes
- Dawson earned his team-high sixth multi-hit game of the season.
- Wetzel has hit safely in eight-consecutive contests.

Tough loss last night, horrible situational hitting and Kuhn is a problem at 2nd in the field. Porter 3B to lead off the 8th & couldn't score him. Not good. Have no idea what happened in the 9th inning, why not bunt the runner to 2nd. Hoping to see better baseball this wkend at Bill Davis. Lakins & Dawson look like flat out studs.

errors have cost us 2 L's so far and Dempsey blowing that save against Indiana St. cost us another 1. We easily could be sitting at 11-3 and on the verge of the top 25. Hopefully coming back home the boys can get a winning streak going. Wonder if there is any thought of trying someone else at 2B?

Curious to see Dempsey in person, numbers wise he doesn't sound right at all. Really wish we could get Josh Dezse back on the bump healthy, that would be a nice shot in the arm. I would like to see Ryan Leffel or Newcomer Nick Sergakis get a start at 2nd or SS. But I doubt it. Siena has a team ERA of 9.43 & is 0-14. If we lose a game this wkend, I really won't have any good things to say. Go Bucks

The Michigan State series is here in Columbus next wkend, hoping the weather stays decent. Nice day at the ball park today. Riga got the job done, he's always been a guy that needs the defense. Nice to see the XBH today but this is a 0-14 Siena team for a reason. The best part about today was seeing #33 back at the plate with 2 hits. Great to see Dezse back healthy. Hoping he's mound ready soon.
