I don't think they have, but haven't been paying attention. Just didn't see what the hold would be for (outside of giving the results to prospective schools or advertisers behind the scenes or something).

I really doubt that the Big Ten will ever release the results to that survey. They'll take the findings, and do the exact opposite of whatever they say.

"90% hate the names 'Legends' and 'Leaders'?! Impossible! The survey must obviously mean that 90% love the names! Fantastic!"

Now that should be the talk of the town.

Instead of doing a "Draft" to pick and choose what players get on a mediocre spring game team, why not do it as a student vs. alumini game?

OSU could probably charge $50 a ticket to see it happen. I couldn't imagine the kind of insanity if you had the group you mentioned + every other notable alumini available playing against the young'uns. It'd make for a far more interesting game than what we see by splitting the 2nd and 3rd string guys amongst two teams.

"and on the alumini team...Starting at quarterback, we have Troy Smith, with Maurice Clarrett at Tailback. Oh, and who's that on defense? Why, it's coaches Fickell and Vrabel as the honorary captains/coaches/players"

Also of note:

Heather Lyke is an associate athletic director at Ohio State, a member of the NCAA Men?s Lacrosse Championship Committee and a driving factor in the future of lacrosse in the Big Ten. She said 10 days ago, in advance of the Big Ten Sports Management Committee meetings in Chicago, that nothing had been offered or even discussed with any certainty, but mentioned that all options for all sports would be considered, and any decisions coming out of the meetings would likely be made early-to-mid-February.

Among the considerations, she seemed to indicate that adding affiliate members for individual sports could be on the table, which may come as a surprise to college hockey fans who for years awaited Big Ten hockey prior to Penn State?s adding the sport this season.

Yea, I heard this about 2 weeks ago from what of my friends who attends Maryland , he said it was done already, but I dunno

What TV market do you pick up with Johns Hopkins? They are a great school with a great lax program, however you already have the Baltimore market with Maryland. Unless it is lax only, I don't get it (although from a shared research standpoint I could see why other Big Ten schools would have interest... Johns Hopkins is a better school than Northwestern imo)...

But what if they only have ONE sport in Division I? The rest is Division III... So like kinda all of their sports that compete at the Big Ten level will be in the conference :wink2:

This would also be a great way to get Toronto in the Big 10... They become an affiliate member and just their hockey program competes in the Big 10 :biggrin:
