Bill O’Brien (HC Boston College, aka BillyBob O’Buttchin et al)

I don't see how you could look at this as anything other than a good move. He's obviously an upgrade over Corey Dennis if it's essentially a 1 for 1 swap on the staff. And I think they definitely they needed another proven scheme idea/ play calling voice other than Day. Hartline and Frye, all due respect, is not exactly a murderer's row combination of scheme and play calling experience and know-how.

I like the move but don't love it. As others have mentioned this is good to have an experienced guy to fill the void that they had on staff when Wilson left last year. The biggest positive in my eyes is that Day should be giving up play calling and this should lead to better outcomes for the whole team.
This is an upgrade over Dennis, but my lingering question is will there be other moves on the offensive staff, mainly at OL Coach?

Seems like a combo of people hating it because of his Ped State past, and people listening to idiot Bama fans blame him for their shortcomings that were either due to terrible defense or poor injury luck.

The biggest part of BOB’s hire for me is the investment into Hartline. Beyond everything that Bill brings with recruiting, play calling, development, etc., this is a great mentorship opportunity. By the time it comes for BOBs to return to HC duties, Hartline will have received direct mentorship in how to be an OC from a guy that has worked and recruited the best college and pro receivers and QBs. He will be able to run the offense as a sole OC then.

OSU has one of the best defenses in the country, if not the best next season. So, OSU needs a serviceable offense, and O'Brien's offenses have been more than serviceable.

O'Brien's offenses were solid, and he will be calling Day's plays, and Day will be the final arbiter.

Day get's to actually think through things during a game, especially big things. And will still be involved with the offense.

I don't see where there is a bad side here, and confused by the naysayers.

Brady would have been the homerun hire imo, but this also works.
There was some excitement around Candle too, but i think he's angling for a HC job.
BOB isn't the wow hire, but i think this will fit really well and work. Should be no question Day is giving up playcalling, and im here for it.

The one thing i really want to see right now are some OL transfers. I know it's not easy right now, may have to wait for spring (and see if Frye is even staying) but that's where im at.

I think Brady has HC ambitions.

Brady was never happening unfortunately.
