Big shocker...he's going pro. Fortunatly Auburn won't be able to run and hide from the NCAA

CORRECTION: He's not going pro. He already *is* a pro. He's been a pro since he first approached Auburn and Mississippi State. Just because he's been doing it in the NCAA doesn't mean that he's truly been an amateur.

Even Cam's carefully worded statement avoids saying that he's going pro--it says that "it is best that I make that next step in my career and forgo my senior season and enter the NFL Draft."

"Several NFL personnel sources" tell FOX Sports' Adam Caplan that Auburn QB Cam Newton projects as a quarterback at the next level.
The same sources say Newton is a sure first-round pick. It's all pretty obvious considering Newton's cannon arm and underrated accuracy. Newton is a fourth-year junior, so he isn't eligible for the Senior Bowl and will get his first chance to make an impression on NFL shot-callers at February's Combine. Interviews will be especially crucial for Newton's stock. He had some off-field issues at Florida and was the subject of heavy scrutiny in 2010 after word leaked that Newton's father asked for money in exchange for delivering his son to schools before his transfer to Auburn.

The sCam lovefest is making me sick as a Buckeye fan... I'm so sick of all the damn talking heads and so-called Buckeye "fans" talking about how TP can't throw, he's so inaccurate... all this bullshit... think sCam is so great. He's barely been forced to make reads with his head or make tough throws... and the best part is, I keep hearing people talk about how playing well during the scandal-coverage shows what kind of character he has... what the fuck? I don't even agree with NCAA rules, but now we're praising someone for playing well while getting away with breaking them? ...excuse me, gotten away with, because he's leaving for his payday...

To espn, et al, shut the fuck up. Thx.

I agree that sCam hasn't been asked to make reads like pro QBs, but I believe he throws a better ball than TP. Perhaps it's TP stride/footwork, but his balls tend to nose down. I don't see that from sCam.

The only time Terrelle throws balls like that is when he is throwing in the pocket on a come back route IIRC. Cam doesn't even make those throws. He's not really asked to make many plays with his head because he has a lot of set plays that are just set up to execute. His throws are deep, near the sideline throws for the most part, similar to TP's passing game last year. I'd be shocked to see this guy starting anytime soon. Then again, I was shocked to see Tebow have marginal success early as well.

I agree. This dude has all of the NFL potential of Jamarcus Russell, IMO.

Date: Jan 14 2011 12:58 PM

Country Crossing lobbyist Jarrod Massey has asked the court to allow him to surrender to the custody of U.S. Marshals.

On December 20th, 2011, Massey struck a plea deal with the government pleading guilty to one count of Conspiracy and 5 counts of Federal Programs Bribery and Aiding and Abetting. Massey has a sentencing date of September 26th, 2011. The trial for the defendants in US v McGregor is slated for April, 2011.

Acknowledging that he is facing prison time, Massey is asking to voluntarily surrender to begin serving his sentence.
tigerdroppings commentary
Ok guys, it's a slow afternoon. Why would Massey want to surrender early? He cut a plead deal, gave the feds what they wanted, knows he will serve some time. He is not scheduled for sentencing until September. Could he be worried about something happening to him? I'm not up on how these things work. Is this common? Thoughts?
He claims that Gilley threatened him a few weeks ago. Guess he may be scared for his safety, or he just knows his goose is cooked and wants to go ahead and start his sentence.
and now for some fine journalism by MSNBC:

This is the actual screen capture from MSNBC. I can't find the one I photoshopped to indicate SW Georgia.
