Cavs 2010-11 season (official thread)

Couldn't ask for anything more from game one. Now if DishNetwork would work out their deal with Fox so I can watch the game in HD. Tried to signup for League Pass free trial, but they blackout local IP addresses.

as my FB status says...
I'm loving Byron Scott as our coach right now. He did more coaching in the midst of tonights game than Mike Brown did in his entire tenure combined.

Dude is money...he was a hell of an underrated and underappreciated player and he just knows what the hell is going on. Will we win every game? Of course not. But I like his concept, I like his guts and the guts of his team, and I think this can be a playoff team with him as coach. Plus if anyone gets out of line he can flash his Laker rings and s ay "Uh, son, wanna win one of these?" Cleveland really was fortunate...for once...to get him.

Cavs > Celtics > Heat

Damn right I'm using the transitive property.

I actually posted that on my facebook last night.

I really can't stand the media right now. Totally dismissing the Cavs, assuming we will be the worst team in the NBA. I just love that the Cavs were able to beat the Celtics and the Heat couldn't... just high comedy!

I really hope this team has such a chip on their shoulder that they can carry it to a magical season (meaning a decent playoff seed like 4 or 5)

the top 5 seeds in the east are basically set. the top 4 in no particular order are the bulls, heat, magic and celtics. the bucks are probably the 5 seed. seeds 6-8 are up for grabs. the cavs simply don't have the horses to make a real run though.

the big question is whether or not they use their TPE to bring in immediate help, or use it to parlay more draft picks and young talent. they need a scorer at the wing position in the worst way however.

monta ellis would be looking pretty good on this team right about now

No way the Cavs would ever pick up Ellis. He's your classic "numbers guy". Looks good when you look at the traditional numbers but he's barely even average when you break it down. Based on the past moves by the Cavs (they have advanced stat geeks on the staff), they sniff these things out and would never touch him unless it was an unbelievable deal.

Blah... I think the Bucks & Bulls are interchangeable at 4/5, depends on injuries really. Boozer never is healthy and Bogut seems to be unlucky.

The good thing for the Cavs is, that's their division race. Can they win the division? Not like the Bulls/Bucks are THAT much better. (ok, they should be, but I am in a dream state from last night)

The TPE is going to be the wildcard. If by December/January we are sucking then that TPE is going to be used as part of a 3-team blockbuster trade with Cleveland being the helper team with the TPE and gets a young player and draft picks.

BUT, Let's say we are up there in the standings with the Bulls/Bucks for the division. That TPE becomes huge to catapult the Cavs into a higher playoff seeding. Gilbert will push for this. While it might not be the best thing for this team longterm, I can see it happening. You won't like the names, heck, I don't like them. But I can totally see us trading for Iguodala, Monta Ellis, Stephen Jackson type. It will help us win a few extra games and maybe push them to the Central Division Title.

Dang... that just made me sick typing that.
