Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

Two things on my mind this morning.

David Shaw
. Because apparently Stanford breeds good coaches.

Mike Gillislee. If we let Jackson & Obby walk, I'd take him if he falls to a middle round. Not likely. He has a good combination of size, speed & power. He'll probably be 2nd round. If he doesn't though - I'd consider taking him.
I had David Shaw on my mind a couple weeks ago but he has since left. I believe that he was out coached in the UCLA game by Mora, Jr. plus Shaw's type of offense would not fit in with the personnel that the Browns currently have on their roster.

I am beginning to think that perhaps they should keep Shurmur around for another season unless he makes some stupid game management decision in the last 4 games. I don't like him that much but we cannot keep changing coaches every other year and his playcalling has improved over the past few games. Sometimes I think that maybe Big Mike was telling him what to do and calling more shots that we really knew about.

My main concern right now is the Lombardi rumors. I understand it if they want to leave Heckert go but to bring in Lombardi as his replacement would be a huge mistake IMO

Lombardi is the worst evaluator of talent that could ever set foot near an NFL office. IF Haslam is retarded enough to hire him, I'm becoming a full-time Redskins fan. Seriously, he's that fucking bad.

If Shurmur wants to stay, the asshole better learn to A) Command the respect of his team b) learn to play to the offensive strengths c) light a fire under the Oline's ass and give this line some run-blocking intensity.

Tressel was outcoached by Urby. Doesn't make him a bad decision. It happens to even the best minds.
While I agree on the personnel. This isn't college where you have to recruit. Drafting a blocking TE and developing
the one's we have is a very real possibility. On top of the fact that I believe he'd put an exclamation on what I said above - run blocking.

double edit: I'm pretty sure Haslam's mind is already made up about Shurmur though. Which doesn't bother me so much as the Lombardi rumor's.
That's a man with terrible (I mean fucking terrible) draft history and you want to hand him the reigns? An owner who isn't privy in listening to
"outside" reason is, IMHO, a dangerous/disasterous owner.

the only defense of shurmur to what you've listed above is that the OG's on this team struggle something awful getting to the 2nd level. they also can't pull or get to the outside to allow a lot of runs outside the tackle box.

It's too bad that they don't play on opposite sides of the ball:wink:
BEREA, Ohio - Browns left tackle Joe Thomas unloaded today on former Browns running Peyton Hillis, now with the Kansas City Chiefs, for dogging it last season when he was trying to get a new contract.

"I think it was better for both sides (that he left)," said Thomas. "At that point the situation with him here was toxic, and he didn't want to be here and players didn't want him here. It was better for a fresh start at that point."

Damn shame what happened with Hillis. He's the type of player this city loves. Blue collar, hard working, humble. But the way he went about getting a new contract was not excusable. I'd love to see what he'd look like on this team now. At FB and maybe some short yardage carries.

Of course it isn't going to happen. But its a clear reminder of what happens when you want your player on the Madden cover.

Bolded word doesn't agree with the next sentence, you can't be humble but be a big baby over your contract and not do your job that your paid to due.

Any chance the Chiefs can sign Wali Rainer and any other disgruntled former Browns for the game Sunday?
Is it true that Quinn and Hillis are sharing a hotel room with one bed Saturday? I don't normally care about games like this that just hurt draft position, but I want the Browns to send those whiny bitches to the hospital.

If anyone has watched, is that Travel Channel series on the Browns worth watching? I think it's called "Road Tested".

yes...its actually really good...only problem i have with it is that they switch from one thing to another constantly...its probably because the show started filming halfway thru the season and they are trying to cram as much as possible into a 30 minute episode...but its worth watching

According to Yahoo Sports, new Browns team president Joe Banner is "lukewarm on the prospects" of Brandon Weeden "developing into a star quarterback."

Reporter Jason Cole came to the conclusion after speaking to "three NFL sources" about Michael Vick's potential 2013 landing spots. Cole lists Cleveland behind Buffalo as Vick's second most likely destination. It's doubtful very few evaluators consider Weeden a future "star quarterback," so the question will be whether Banner believes he can be competent. It's hard to envision Cleveland choosing Vick over Weeden for 2013.

No way i see vick in cleveland, nor would i want that...i think his best days are behind him and the whole dawg pound thing should be enough already
