Danny Clark (QB Kentucky Wildcats, transfer to Vanderbilt)

Yeah, this is getting interesting for sure.

From the above:
Danny Clark will be at Ohio State on Saturday, and I am sure that he and his father will have been fully-apprised of what the plans at quarterback in the 2017 class are. The Akron Hoban star will be at Ohio State on Saturday with his teammate, fellow Ohio State commitment Todd Sibley, Jr.for the Buckeyes' first spring scrimmage of 2016.

I have to guess that all sides are considering what they need to consider in order to make the best decision for themselves... but yeah... interesting.

This is why 16 year olds don't get tattoos...
Ouch, you had to go there :slappy:
But yeah, you're correct. I hope the best for Clark, whether he ends up a Buckeye or elsewhere, but I think the staff jumped the gun on his evaluation. He can still probably put up some numbers, and get better in a year, and who knows how his collegiate career will end up. But recruiting is ongoing, and a committment is nice, but no one is binded to it. And the staff has every right to look at others QB they feel can fit their system better.

I wouldn't reach TOO much into the "visit" as it's been stated the reason for it. We'll have to see how the Tate Martell situation plays out, because as of now he's the only other '17 QB to have been offered by tOSU. Obviously, if there's some movement on that front things could certainly change, but until that time I wouldn't get too riled up about it. This weekend should give us a clearer indication of where things currently stand on the QB front.

I just hope we're not napalming bridges in Ohio because a quarter of the kids in a loaded Bishop Gorman class have suddenly developed a love affair out of left field for OSU in three months. Risk != reward long term.

This is the side of recruiting that makes my stomach turn.
Understand your point but is it napalming to simpy offer a 2nd QB? It's not like we yanked Danny's offer or anything. By that standard we do this everytime we offer another player at a position where an Ohio kid is already committed - specifically RB, the other "one player at a time on the field" position. It's interesting that there is less concern of the Sibley situation. In both cases the staff might be ok with the current commit but feel they need other options in the class. And if the other options are higher rated - that's the way it goes, Ohio kid or not.

Fix'd. Sibley is clearly a concern as well, however there's no denying that Clark has a longer and deeper history with the program, hence the discussion. I think that all will turn out fine in the end and I'd be surprised if Danny ends up anywhere but tOSU. That said, it may not be under the terms that had expected / dreamed it to be.

Given what we have in the QB room, an extra QB may be a good move. We saw how one ended up at WR in a year we took two... so we may have some room there... and the potential to RS one for a year creates some additional room. We can all come up with scenarios where this makes sense. It will come down to it making sense for the kids too.
