DE Noah Spence (Official Thread)

Meyer also had some exciting things to say about freshman defensive end Noah Spence. The 5-star prospect out of Pennsylvania looked really good in the one-on-one drills Monday.
There were not many tackles who could slow him down, including Mewhort. Spence blew right past the fourth-year junior on the first matchup, but Mewhort did a better job slowing him down the second time.

Meyer mentioned Noah Spence and Jamal Marcus as two guys he expects to play early.

3rd group was Pittman, Adolphus Washington, Chris Carter and Noah Spence.
That has got to be the greatest third string dline in the galaxy.

Kyle Dodson said the toughest guy to block so far is John Simon. Second toughest….Noah Spence.
Apparently Meyer threw the young guys right into the mix during Saturday's scrimmage to see if they could handle game-like experience.......Apparently, Spence performed so well they took the freshman stripe off his helmet right on the field after the scrimmage.
John Simon told me Noah Spence is probably the most athletic guy on the entire defensive line.
Simon said he had goosebumps Saturday when they took Spence's stripe off after practice.
Simon said Spence had a tremendous scrimmage and has been working a lot with the twos over the last week.
Spence has actually learned a lot from the Offensive Linemen. They taught him how to counter his outside speed rush with inside move.

He's going to cause a lot of holding calls! A whole lot! He'll lead the BIG in causing holding calls!:tongue2:

So what you're saying is he needs to practive the flailing arms procedure since the refs never seem to see it no matter how obvious it looks to us?

Spence Already Making His Presence Felt
By Brandon Castel

COLUMBUS, Ohio ? The Buckeyes already have an All-American candidate at defensive end heading into the 2012 season. They could add a second if senior Nathan Williams can come all the way back from his microfracture knee surgery.

So why is everyone talking about Noah Spence?

The 5-star defensive end out of Harrisburg, Pa. was hot commodity in the class of 2012, but he hasn?t looked much like a freshman this fall. At least not according to the guys he?s been going against in his first month of practices at Ohio State.

?Noah Spence has really stepped up as a freshman,? senior right tackle Reid Fragel on the last day of two-a-day practices.

?He?s very quick off the edge. I think he?ll be a special player in the future. Watching a young freshman like that develop is interesting to see.?
