Denard "LLL" Robinson (an excellent driver)

Both were starting qbs for most of 3 seasons. Pryor played for a much more talented, much better coached, team than Robinson. One of them was a big part in his school being ineligible for a bowl game, his coach fired and teammates punished.

Which has absolutely zero to do with your comparison....Strawman anyone?

The part you highlighted. Yeah, maybe that's a strawman issue.

So is getting upset because Dennard made some stupid sideline gesture, yet because it SEEMED directed at Ohio State you and others on this site decided that it made his stats different from Terrell's.

The figures stand. With both playing QB in the same conference, and against similar opponents in and out of conference they both accomplished just about the same on-field results.

I'll also guess that you'll at least agree that in at least two of the three games Robinson started against the Buckeyes, he was playing for a team whose overall size, speed and skill was inferior to that of the Buckeyes.

Here's what I don't get: how are Ohio State fans to take any pride in winning two games against Michigan if Robinson was a pussy?

Outplaying Little Sisters of the Poor does nothing for a team's rep. And just think of what it says about Ohio State when you realize that in one of his three games Robinson led Michigan to a win. What you are, in effect, saying is that the Buckeyes were beaten by a player you believe to be a pussy.

Oh and the part you highlighted? Dick Wad didn't get fired because Robinson failed to perform, but Tressell was held accountable for the actions of Pryor.

Strawman the shit out of that.

I posted in this thread differentiating TP's stats from Detard's? Where? When?

I have 4 (and when this posts 5) posts in this thread, none of which deal with any type of comparison between TP and Detard.

Then you agree with my stats and my contention that both were great players.

Fine, let's talk statistics:

Against MSU:

14-29 att 163 yds 0 td 1 int 20 rush 96 yds 0 td
09-24 att 123 yds 1 td 1 int 18 rush 42 yds 1 td
17-29 att 215 yds 1 td 3 int 21 rush 86 yds 1 td

Weak to dreadful every start against "Little Brother"

Against OSU:

00-00 att 000 yds 0 td 0 int 10 rush 122 yds 1 td
14-27 att 167 yds 1 td 0 int 26 rush 170 yds 1 td
08-18 att 087 yds 0 td 0 int 18 rush 105 yds 0 td

So he was a running back as a soph & senior vs OSU, and had a strong game against the worst OSU team in most of our lifetimes.

Against ND:

13-24 att 138 yds 0 td 4 int 26 rush 90 yds 0 td
11-24 att 338 yds 4 td 3 int 16 rush 108 yds 1 td
24-40 att 244 yds 1 td 0 int 28 rush 258 yds 2 td

so he was prolific, clutch and then dreadful against ND.

I'm assuming you don't want to compare their bowl statistics either.

.......................................... 23 rush 100 yds 0 td
09-21 att 117 yds 2 td 1 int 11 rush 011 yds 0 td
27-41 att 254 yds 2 td 1 int 11 rush 059 yds 0 td

vs

14-25 att 221 yds 2 td 0 int 15 rush 115 yds 0 td
23-37 att 266 yds 2 td 1 int 20 rush 072 yds 0 td

Two BCS starts. Two BCS mvp trophies.

No - great players don't lose 5 games a year. Great players do what it takes to win the game and play with torn ligaments in their foot when they know, somewhere, that the hammer is about to come down.

One player was a great college football player.

The other used Vaseline.

You do the math.

I think it was actually a red herring.

Detard: 6250 pass yards in 4 years, 57% completions, 49-39 TD-INT ratio, 26-11 starting record?, 1-2 bowl games

Terrelle: 6177 pass yards in 3 years, 61% completions, 57-26 TD-INT ratio, 31-4 starting record?, 2-1 BCS bowls

Oh yes, just about the same.

Denard has 9 of scUM's 10 highest single-game yardage totals ever, and not a single one was against a team with a pulse. He was a hugely talented athlete but was rarely in the right position to become an actually great player.

He is also a half threat qb. He was a very inconsistent passer, was a poor scrambler and was quite weak at reading the option (when it wasn't predesignated before the snap). His best runs all three years came as a running back with ten blockers and no fake on the option. His production continued as a tailback.

Great athlete and runner, flawed quarterback in every way.
