Patriot-News files to have reporter's subpoena quashed in Jerry Sandusky case

The court is addressing The Patriot-News' motion to quash a Jerry Sandusky defense subpoena of reporter Sara Ganim, who is one of the newspaper's staffers covering the ex-PSU coach's child molestation trial in Centre County.

Ganim said attorney Karl Rominger gave her the subpoena this morning but told her it was a "precaution," that she could stay in the courtroom and that she would be called only if the prosecution did something "crazy." She said he didn't elaborate.

Ganim was among the dozens of people on the defense's potential witness list during jury selection. Ganim won a Pulitzer Prize for her coverage of the Sandusky case.

After the jury was dismissed for the day this afternoon, the court had a hearing on a motion filed by The Patriot-News to quash the subpoena. No decision was made, and the matter will be brought up in the morning.

The motion cites her right to protect her sources:

Is it just me or does Jerry's wife look scared here? I'm in no way defending her, but it almost looks like she's got fear in her eyes and her facial expression. Meanwhile the ass turd looks like he is having fun. He was probably getting off in the courtroom while reminiscing all of the testimonies. Disgusting.

Anyways back on point, I wonder how much Jer is paying his wife to be quiet. Just a theory.

I mean come on, women are much more nurturing towards kids. Either she's as cold as Jerry (most likely) or she's keeping her mouth shut for some other reason.

If this were a boxing match, it seems like the Prosecution won the first few rounds with a steady stream of body shots and the Defense knocked the Prosecution down in one of the later rounds.

Fucking amazing. I've said it before and I stand by it. The entire culture in Happy Valley condones this shit and really can't see why anyone else would have a problem with it.

There are certainly those who are rooting for an acquittal as a means of making JoPa not have any responsibility for enabling a pedophile.

Gerry Sandusky is a saint! Those people just want money! This whole story is nothing more than a bunch of media lies meant to ruin the golden reputation of Saint Joe. And destroy Penn State, the university that has moral superiority over all of college football!

If Sandusky gets what he deserves (a guilty verdict) I hope they interview this woman again and ask her if she still wants to defend this monster and see what she has to say. I am also very disappointed that none of the press have asked this woman if it would be alright for Jerry to shower naked with her (allegedly) 14 kids.

What is really disturbing me about this whole thing is the other coaches testimonies about showering naked with young kids at the YMCA and other places. I don't go to the Y, but have been to many waterparks where showers are provided in the bathroom areas, and I always see parents and their kids showering with their bathing suits on, not naked. I have also never witnessed "soap battles" or "naked tickle monster" during these times. These people defending this POS are seriously some fucked up individuals.
