DT Michael Hill (Official Thread)

Michael Hill Stands Out

Possibly the most impressive player of the day on the defensive side of the ball was Hill. He drew praise from the coaches all morning as he repeatedly got to the quarterback during drills.

Hill earned the second-team reps over fellow freshman Joey Bosa, who most considered the more highly regarded recruit. One former player on hand said Bosa looked too light while Hill is all of 305 pounds.

Hill has the physical tools to play immediately and he is showing that. I think we can rotate him in occasionally as a go get 'em player until he gets the schemes down. I was ecstatic to land him originally, as truly is a freak in the middle. As for Bosa, his impact will normally be felt from SDE and perhaps occasionally at DT on passing downs.

Under Larry Johnson OSU will not flip its ends to the weak or strong side.

Bosa will be the left DE. That means he will actually be playing the weak side quite often.

Not in the least but we need players like Michael to take that next step next year.

Michael Hill, Munger, Sprinkle, Schutt, Slade, Hubbard, and Holmes all have the potential to play a great deal but can they all improve to the point where we can rotate them?

I think through the offseason we'll see 2-3 of those guys step up. Holmes & Schutt should start and with the praise that Hubbard has gotten I expect him to get a lot of backup time or possibly even surpass Holmes. Munger seemed to play quite a bit against Oregon, although I can't remember how well he did.
