ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

Good enough to be compared to 2 HCs with multiple NCs, multiple conference titles and at multiple schools? And he was picked out of all the coaches in America, I'm not taking anything away from Harbaugh, but until you win an NC(and a recent one, OBC is not close to an elite coach anymore) you can't be mentioned in the same sentence as either Saban or Meyer
So no one else could be named as someone who could be a game changer or capable of turning a program around? You can only list those two because no others have their specific credentials? Seems a bit silly.

He may not be Meyer, but ...

His first year at Stanford ~ "Later in the season, Stanford defeated #1 USC 24–23 with a touchdown in the final minute. With USC being the favorite by 41 points, it was statistically the greatest upset in college football history. Although Stanford lost to USC in 2008, Harbaugh and the Stanford Cardinal upset USC at home again with a score of 55–21 on November 14, 2009. Stanford's 55 points was the most ever scored on USC in the Trojans' history until Oregon scored 62 in a 62–51 win over USC on November 3, 2012. It was Pete Carroll's first November loss as USC head coach. Harbaugh has never lost in USC's home stadium, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum."

Again, I'll be very happy if the Buckeyes beat TTUN by 1 pt. And wouldn't be surprised if The Game determines the division title.

Harbaugh almost won the Super Bowl with Colin Kaepernick as his qb.

>

But yes, ESPN college football pundits are frickin' idiots ... on a good day!

Of course he could be capable. The other two guys have won national titles at 2 different schools tho. I mean shit, Dantonio may have not won a title but he should be mentioned before Jimmy. At least for now.

Disagree, Dantonio and JimBo are in similar circles. Look, I get that poking fun at TTUN and ESPN is easy game, but this didn't really fit the bill. If someone speculates that those three might be your top choices to turn a program around, it's not a horrible comment.

I don't watch ESPN so I'm just going off what you posted. I may have misunderstood. Although I don't think Dantonio and Harbaugh are on the same level as far as program building is concerned and neither are on part with Urban and Saban.

Saban might actually be the biggest ? on that list. He didnt have to rebuild anything at LSU and Bama.... and his time w/Sparty shows he couldnt do it at a non-powerhouse.
And that brings up another name that has rebuilt east lansing.

Meyer took a 6-7 team coming off a four-game losing streak including a bowl loss, and turned it into a 12-0 conference division winner while under sanctions, with a victory over its arch rival to which it had lost the previous season, and ending up ranked #3 in the AP Poll (wasn't eligible for Coaches Poll).

The Harbraugh has taken a 5-7 team and has lead it to a 4-1 record so far, losing to the only currently-ranked team it has played. He faces a true test the next two weeks with games against Northwestern and Michigan State. If they win those games, then folks can really start talking about how The Harbraugh can turn programs around...

Not to say Meyer isn't probably the best coach in the college ranks right now, but I think saying he turned the ship around is over stating it.... Ohio State had a down year because you didn't have a head coach... Urban or Tressel coach that year and 1 lose at most would have happened.

Some of the computers have TSUN beating Ohio State by at least 10 right now, but if you look closely at models like Sagarins Recent model, the Bucks are improving. The problem for the Bucks? So is TSUN.

There is no reason to be negative, but the Buckeyes may well go into this game as underdogs.

They were 10-2 in 2005...
That year was an anamoly, Alabama had quite a down time with Price and Shula. Yes 2005 was 10-2, but you failed to say what the records were before and after those years (2003 4-9, 2004 6-6 and 2006 6-6)? And Sabans first year they went 7-6 before he turned them around. So yeah, there was a good amount of work to do, and Saban did an amazing turn around.

You're forgetting the amount of talent that was lost, regardless of the coach. Even with the coach, our down year still had a true frosh QB and another QB that had no accuracy whatsoever. Tress and Neyer would've lost multiple games with no Pryor, Posey or Adams, and Boom out for a 1/4 of the year. What Meyer did in one year was nothing short of amazing, as he had very little of the type of talent that he has now, or that fit his system.

One loss? Doubtful. That team had Joe freaking Bauserman and a very raw true frosh Braxton at QB. The suspensions killed the skill positions and the OL. with Tressel, that was an 8-4 team...maybe. Meyer may have pulled off 9 wins with brax in his offense. But that was not a good team after the tat-gate fallout.
