Hawk and Mangold Apartment Robbed!!

$1,425 in movies? Huh?

Even at $14.95 a movie (real cheap) that's about 95 movies. That's not unusual to have that many DVDs between two guys.

apparently their "well to do families" didn't teach them about banks. Pretty stupid to have 3000 dollars in cash in a campus apartment. Just asking for trouble.

Enjoy this moment while you can, but I agree 100% on that. I'd never leave cash around...it's the easiest to take and it's impossible to trace.

tibor you and your buddies are stretching seriously here... as tlangs pointed out 57 movies is NOT a lot. There were probably 10 guys just on my floor that had DVD collections of 60+. Even if it were 95 movies, that is not many at all between three guys. Especially when you consider that movies seem to be a common escape when some of these players are asked what they do for fun.

Maybe it is weird that they had 3000 on hand, and maybe they had taken it out for some reason and the robber knew that.

Even 19-20 movies would have been a lot for me back in college. Eh, maybe I was much poorer and studied a lot more than I realized.
I think you should stick to the latter part, people blow unbelievable amounts of money on dvds that they watch once. I had to get over this tendency as well.

As I just finished writing on another message board:

The University of Cincinnati's Armein Kirkland drives around Clifton in a fully loaded Lexus SUV. Both of his parents are tenured School Board members from East Texas..they bought the car for him as a gift.

1) nowhere in that report does it say that the watch belonged to Mangold or Hawk...it just says a watch was taken from the house.

2) I challenge anybody to find three college students living on campus (unless they are hippies.. ) that DON'T have $1500 in DVD's between the three of them...Seriously, my wife and I have that much between the two of us and we are old and boring...(and that doesn't even count my secret stash of DVD porn...:wink2: )...and having an Xbox and Playstation is a MUST for every college age student...and even for those of us who are a bit older.

3) I can't explain 3g's in cash...Hawk's parents are pretty well off in the world...You get money for your b-day, x-mass, easter...etc...but you are full-time student and athlete...when do you find time to spend it??? More importantly, how much of the cash actually belonged to Hawk and Mangold?

I'm sorry, but aside from a crime, this much to do about nothing...except for the fact that haters of the program will attempt to spin it...I say let them spin because reason is on our side and haters are going to hate no matter what.

Go Bucks. Beat ND!

These kids are on scholarship. They have no books, no tuition to pay for. It would seem to me that their families probably had a little money sacked away for college and perhaps that money has gone for other things?

Also, where the hell are you buying DVD's for $25? Wherever it is, you're getting ripped off big time. I suggest shopping around more...

Decent movies cost $10-$25. New release are a minimum of $15 each. I've never paid more than $15 for a movie myself, I'd rather just pay $25 a month to Netflix. Even at $15 less than 100 movies were stolen. I probably have 40-50 real movies on DVD.

I can understand the movies and maybe, maybe the watch, but the cash is fishy. I hate to say it, but it is. Also, why did it take them 5 days to report it to the cops?

To paraphrase your user title, "Look at the thread".

According to a Columbus Division of Police report, the burglary occurred sometime between Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. and Nov. 23 at 8 p.m.

It hapened just before Thanksgiving, and they reported it right after the Thanksgiving weekend.

They also get a housing stipend for living off campus, right? I'm sure there are quite a few students rooming-up to make money.

most movies are around $20. increased the average to $25 because a lot of people get collecters editions and box sets, like the Lord of the Rings that are $40.00 each, Family Guy 1st season $40, Seinfeld $40, Band of Brothers $60, etc

It suprises me that anyone would make an issue of what was stolen and how much it was worth and try to twist it into possibly a rules violation.

Much ado about nothing. They may be college students and on scholarship, but that doesn't mean they can't own anything. I am sure their families provide for them.

I remember that all of the players were given PS2's and Xbox's for bowl games in the past.

Having $3000 cash laying around sounds stupid to most of us, but I'll ask. If they had received that money illegally do you think they would be stupid enough to report it as stolen? I guarantee they would write it off if they weren't able to explain where they got it from. Maybe they had just cashed their room and board stipend or something.
