HB Dontre 'DeSoto' Wilson (Official Thread)

Exactly. The Offense needs to wear down the secondary and one way to do that is make them run with the speed guys. They can use him as a decoy as well. Gotta use a talent like Wilson.
This game is about setting up the 2nd half for success IMO. I think you try and chew the clock, keep them on the field, wear them out with Zeke/Samuel/Jones/Marshall/Dontre (damn that's a lot of runners that are capable), and try to get a few quick 3 and outs. Then keep pounding them and by the 2nd half they may very well may do what MSU did in the 2nd half and that's start giving up chunk yardage in every aspect of the offense.

You have to remember the fast tempo is great when it does well but if we somehow manage a 3 and out after a 3-5 minute drive of physical play on our part it will be a nightmare for them to go another 3-5 minutes against our offense. IMO the goal should be to get a 3 and out 2-4 times in this game because if we can do that I honestly think we will beat them into submission. It's like Rocky, pound the body pound the body then go knock their block off when they're beaten down.

Oregon is tougher than we all give them credit for and people attacked them for the FSU game about not being physical enough (myself included) but FSU likes to throw the ball with Winston were as OSU likes to run run run then hit you over the top. As some of the talking heads on ESPN said two days ago our offensive style poses more problems than FSU. We can run outside/Inside we can run screens, counters, quick passes, and then when you come up to stop it Cardale has been money on the deep ball He's literally like 5-7 on deep throws since Wisconsin and that could've been 7-7 if not for a drop by smith and Cardale missing on a wide open Evan Spencer in the Wisconsin game.

There was a ticker on ESPN saying 12 Gauge is 5-11 on 40+ yard throws with 4 TDs. Not sure if that's his "all-time" stats or for Wisconsin and Alabama only.

EDIT: Saw it again yesterday and he's 5-11 on passes of 30+ yards for 4 TDs this season.

I only saw Dontre in for 2 plays.... anyone disagree? (need to settle prop bet)

I saw him on the sidelines walking around without shoulder pads and just his jersey in the second half. Didnt look for him too much as I assumed with Samuel taking kicks, but at one point my friend mistook Erick Smith as Dontre, and I corrected him. Then we started to look for Dontre and thats when I saw him around the 3rd/4th.

Yep, he was in for at least one play. The camera even focused on him for a few seconds before the snap to show he had checked into the game...

Faked the jet sweep to him on that play & he remained in for the following play. I didn't see him besides those two plays.....and he looked fine running the fake sweep. Hoping for a big junior year out of Dontre!! (can't believe he'll be a Junior already...)
