I stand with Jim Tressel - How Firm Thy Friendship

Part of me wants to say, "Jim, you are a good man. Walk away and go be with your family. Not because you're a quitter, but because College Football stinks to high heaven and, at some point, you need to think of yourself. Walk away from this corruption and b.s. You have helped improve the lives of many, many people. You've done more than enough. Thanks for everything." I just don't want the man to die of a heart attack before he gets to finally spend some time with his family.

Nope. But I'll ask my Bobby Knight bobble-head as I lay next to it in bed tonight and get back to you.

Do *you* know?

I fuckin' hate Bobby Knight.

I'm just saying that I believe him. He's not a bullshitter. To me, a more apt analogy would be hitler saying FDR was a great leader. Hitler may have been a huge bitch, but he lead the fuck out of those idiots.

I stand with THE Ohio State University. It was there long before Gordon Gee, Gene Smith and Jim Tressel and it will be there after they are gone. It'll survive them as it survived me. I want to stand with all three of them now, but I need more than what I was given at that press conference to do it.

What was said, versus what was in the emails, made little sense to me. They left me having to believe they were clueless or hiding something. I know they're not clueless, so until more evidence is forthcoming I'm left wondering what they were trying to hide. Did the Compliance Department drop the ball? If so, would the punishment for that be worse? That could certainly explain it. Maybe Tressel is taking the bullet for something bigger?

Then again, maybe he just hoped it would go away, and when it didn't, he froze. I don't know, but I do know I need something better than what we've been given so far before I can pronounce my undying loyalty to any one individual at this time. I'm hoping that changes for the better, and soon.

I stand with THE Ohio State University. :osu:

It's taken me a couple days to fully digest this, and as such, I've stayed pretty quiet about it. Now, after reading how some people within the program are handling this, and in particular, the players, he still has my full support. From what I've seen, those kids would go to war for the man and I can't think of a better person to lead a program than one that inspires that kind of loyalty.

Absolutey. The most important thing for the future of Ohio State, far more than the football program or JT's continued role in it, is the upcoming capital campaig, and if I stand with anyone (even more than Gee) it's the senior alumni that are going to be leading it
