Kareem WaLLker (dismissed from ttun)

Depending on the offensive scheme he'll be good, like almost any player. I couldn't see even Fournette being as effective in a spread offense. But yeah, Walker could be special player wherever he goes

Guys like Fournette and Adrian Peterson are the only true "sure things" I've ever seen coming out of high school.

I'll say I'm not worried about where we are at with running backs. We have Michael Weber, Antonio Williams, and DeMario McCall (if necessary) in the fold. We should have Sibley and another top-ranked back in 2017. We're stacked.

The concern is the perception of losing a top-ranked recruit to Michigan. I'm not one of the people who wants them to get healthy. They're looking good on the field and could get quite formidable on the recruiting trail in the next couple of months. In this way, Walker means a heck of a lot more to them than he does to us.

Who knows what the change in relationship comment was all about, but I suspect that when Walker started looking around the staff went out and got their next guy knowing that Walker sticking was iffy. And when they got their next guy they may have been fairly straight up with Walker about being solid or get out to make room.

Like I said, who knows... but I don't think that this staff waits around much for a kid when the next in line is on board and there's very little difference between the players.

Good luck to the kid anywhere but tsun.

Upsetting. He would have been a perfect fit for this offense. To get him in the year after we lose Zeke to the NFL would have been sweet. C'est la vie. We move forward.

Good luck to Kareem on your decision. You would have looked great in S&G.

I think he is going to be a good one, and unfortunately we may have to face him at scUM. BUT, our Dline is going to kick their Olines ass like we always do so in a way I feel for him LOL

Kareem may wish he had become buddies with Bosa 2 instead of an opponent.

Three points of rebuttal:

1. Derrick Green (granted, somewhat different circumstances although it's impossible to know exactly what went down)

2. I strongly suspect Urban Meyer can quickly overcome perception on the recruiting trail

3. Harbaugh will be coaching in Indianapolis next year, so momentum is not going to be an issue

Look at the depth mentioned by @OH10, we'll be fine. All of the RBs coming in fit our offense great as well. Not to mention we still have Samuel to play RB as well as Dunn and Ball for quality depth.

Here's where depth could be dicey. Zeke's gone, Dunn and Ball will both be eligible for graduate transfers (where they can play immediately at another school) and Samuel may be needed at H (especially if Dontre's foot problems continue). That leaves you only Weber and Williams (McCall is way too frail to play college RB right now).

Having said that, I was never a big fan of Walker. His performance this year has not been impressive. His upright style would be ok if he were a more powerful guy or a faster guy (and there are some questions about his speed). I would prefer that OSU go after Miles Sanders who might be willing to listen now that Barkley has cemented himself as the feature back the next 2 years at PSU. I think Sanders is outstanding and a far better back than Walker. He's taking an OV to Pitt this weekend so he might be open to a call from OSU.

He compares himself to marshon from Seattle and that couldn't be further from the truth. One's big and powerful and the other is smaller and quick so don't know where he was going with that one.

Walker has to go to the right system to be successful because at his size (shade over 200) I formation would not bode well for him. Someone like Clemson would work out though.

I actually think Walker's game was in fact a better fit for the Ohio State zone blocking scheme than a traditional man blocking scheme like Michigan's or some other pro style systems. Which is why I find it interesting that he's somehow sold on that being his preferred offense, and in addition, OSU is somehow deficient in power run blocking. Maybe someone more experienced can weigh in, but I see someone with a strong initial read, strong initial cut, and then all about speed.
