They were the Sun Sentinel Super 11 prior to the start of the 2009 high school football season.

By recruiting standards, each has been worthy of their preseason status.

Of the 11, five have already made early commitments to Division I colleges. They are Western offensive lineman Jonathan Feliciano (Miami), St. Thomas running back Giovanni Bernard ( Notre Dame), Cardinal Gibbons wide receiver Shawn Corker (Texas Tech), Ely corner back Jabari Price (North Carolina) and Boyd Anderson defensive back Demar Dorsey (Florida).

There is no doubt the remaining six, too, have Division I scribed in their helmets.

Let's take a look at what's pending.

Probably the most prized recruit is do-everything cornerback Lamarcus Joyner of St. Thomas Aquinas. He's currently the No. 1 ranked player at his position by rivals.com. He has made official visits to some of college's elite programs, including Ohio State, Notre Dame and Florida State. Joyner said no decision is likely until National Signing Day or just prior to signing day in early February.

My suspicion would be that it would hurt us negligibly, if only because one aspect of the uncertainty in Tallahassee gets cleared away, but I don't know that it will make too much of a difference at this point.

IMO coaching changes at premier programs (which generally mean programs that are struggling in terms of that programs expectations) can be a boon to recruiting.

The new coach can sell expectations and there is little to contradict them. ("After all, this is Florida State".) Fisher in particular is in position to step right in with the folks who have been interested in FSU and tell them exactly what was broken, how he will fix it, and how much better things will be. In addition, he can make moves on kids who are not currently showing interest and sell a fresh approach.

If ND moves quickly they will be in similar position.

If a coach comes on board after a bowl game (and the associated hiring process) they can find themselves behind the 8 ball. Not the case with ND or FSU.

Even RR had eleven commits (including four 4 star players) after taking the job in mid-December - and he is an ass.

Agreed. I think this is a real positive for FSU. Obviously I have no idea what will happen with LJ, but making this move is ultimately a positive in recruiting for FSU as it is obvious to any kid watching that FSU has been keeping wins on the down-low recently and that BB had one foot out the door. I don't think BB stepping down helps tOSU at all.

yes, the guy that has been on staff for 3 years, and was said by many to be the de facto decisionmaker on most issues really has a lot of wiggle room to pass the buck on the mediocrity that has plagued that team during his entire tenure.

I agree, this is completely different than the ND and scUM scenarios. Kids for several years have been prepared for this moment of Bobby Bowden leaving, and they've known that Jimbo Fisher would be his successor. This will have pretty much no effect on recruiting because I can almost guarantee all of their players and recruits knew this would happen, and I'm also sure Fisher has made a relationship with all of their recruits because they knew this would happen. Maybe they didn't know when, but Bowden wasn't gonna last past next year at the most!

There has been one school mentioned constantly with regards to Joyner's top school. That would be us. I'd put our chances around 65% with him. Would really love for him to pull the trigger for the good guys sooner rather than later but as long as he's a Buckeye, I'll be happy!:osu:
