Mirror Lake Jump (official thread)

That's interesting to hear. Last year was my first time to it, and just about everyone there was in the lake going insane. The was a chant of "Fuck Michigan" going on for like 3 minutes straight, with everyone jumping around. It was fun, but I recommend shoes, and being pretty much hammered.

There always was people in the lake, but not hundreds. Normally about 50 or so. Of course one of the favorite songs was the Michigan fight song with the special lyrics...

Hail to those Big Cocksuckers
Hail to those Mother Fuckers....

You know the one. The whole night is not a G rated event.

Another question for the youngins...is the band involved in the event? I know the university stopped this when I was in school.

Essentially, in the good old days, members of the band got together and played fight songs in front of the dorms to get people to come out (the name was phantom band...it was by far not university sponsored). The band would play at each dorm getting more and more people to come out and follow. The whole event would go across campus ending at mirror lake. The tradition continued after the band, although not as well organized. Just wondering what it is like now.

Question for the current Buck students...is there still a kegs and eggs spot? It died somewhat when Papa Joe's "accidentally" burnt down. Other bars tried to rivive it but it was never the same. Man those were some rough halftimes...sobering up with a hangover in the middle of the game. Nothing was worse than the game where my buddies and I drank all night, stayed up for kegs and eggs, and went to the game only to see Shawn Springs slip on a slant pattern and lose a close one. That was one of the worst days of my life...I don't think I could have felt worse emotionally and physically at about 4PM that day.

They had it last year at Buckeye Hall of Fame cafe. It was a blast. I havent heard anything about it this year. Might just be a home game thing now. Has anyone heard anything?

For 02 and 03 there were lots of band members there, last year I dont remember seeing as many (though, I had alot more to drink before last years jump than in previous years)

I worked at that place when in college. Somehow I doubt it's the same unless they do it in the old parking garage. The big tradition for kegs and eggs was the food/beer fight that always ensued. Everyone left soaked in beer and egg remnants. Damn we were stupid...or really drunk. For some reason I don't really recall.
