OC/WR Coach Brian Hartline (Official Thread)

Which Buckeye had the greatest impact on the Ohio State history of the position he played?

  • Brian Hartline

  • Other (This is the wrong answer)

I’m going to say something very unpopular…

Unless Brian starts rotating more WRs to play more kids then what’s the point of all these WRs?

His recruiting is pointless if he doesn’t start playing kids more and to be honest I don’t anticipate him doing so.

Edited: and his recruiting is his biggest asset so if his recruiting is moot with all the transfers and the lack of rotation? Then what is the point of all of this?

We will keep losing them to the portal, like Bryson Rodgers who just announced he is transferring today.

There’s a picture floating around of Hartline, Frye, Dennis (and maybe someone else) at a concert that was an official part of the Cotton Bowl but potentially conflicted with team obligations as implied by Austin Ward for Dennis at least.

Considering Frye and Dennis are on the hottest of seats, if not already shown the door for awful preparation, seems like Hartline really needs to focus up and get his shit together… ESPECIALLY stacked on top of the ATV incident earlier this year.

“Apparently” was cleared up by an OSU rep who reached out to the best. They said that it was a morning meeting and wasn’t missed.

That said I think Hartline lacks focus playing co-OC. We saw a big drop off in WR separation and blocking this year. Sure Marv has showed speed and hands but had trouble getting open early on.

His WRs have never blocked.
I would have been happy with one less receiver on the field and a heavy package for the run game and pass protection.
IMO, wrong thing to do overall but maybe for the last game it would’ve helped.

Spread the field with 4-5 and force them to cover and also clear up the picture for the OL/QB. Friday though? It wouldn’t have mattered what we did.

There is clearly a need to get more WRs on the field.
Well either that or stop recruiting 4 per class. If we are going to play 3 then recruit 2 every class because this is stupid.

Now we lost a second 2023 WR since my comment.

Seriously play the kids coach or they’ll leave. There’s no reason for Marvin etc to play vs Western Kentucky etc.

Not only that but when we have kids opt out because we can’t beat our rivals then we won’t look fucking stupid when we play our back ups.

That’s just crazy talk. I mean playing backups when you’re up 35-7 going to the fourth quarter. Next thing is you’ll want him to let the QB throw the ball.

They could have a video of him punching a fucking baby for all I care.

He’s the only thing we’ve got that still qualifies as “elite”. Elite types are often flawed humans. Use them for what they are elite at and don’t over think shit.
