I am so not looking forward to that song their band plays when any moderately good play happens for them. Here's hoping they don't get many opportunities to celebrate on Sept 13th!
I am thinking that the band will be playing that song all day long since they are in the coliseum! Hopefully osu will have their share as well! Just hope it is a great game!:)

Matt Leinart's dad and Reggie Bush's agent are paying for it. :paranoid:

I'm just saying that you guys obviously don't know how to stretch an entertainment buck. We use all our frequently flier points from recruiting/away games to send Mike Williams to the Carribean.

I thought it was to pay for Petros Papadakis to get his voice fixed so he sounded like a normal human being?

LOL. His voice is extremely irritating. Can't stand to listen to 510 his time because of it. But, will say, after seeing him live a few times on Rome and others, he seems infinitely less abrasive and actually very insightful. Why does he feel the need to scream on the radio?

Are they getting lobster dinners with their first class ticket or is that waiting for them in their Beverly Hills hotel room?

IIRC, the band has 225 members, with 192 performing. Roundtrip airfare and hotel rooms for at least two evenings for an entourage that big would be quite a credit card charge...

... to say nothing of the cost of shipping that many musical instruments, the cost of the meet-and-greets with alumni and boosters, etc. etc...

Three Yards and a Cloud of Beans

We can all guess how this game might be viewed.
USC wins= greatest team of all time loaded with Heisman Trophy prospects.
OSU wins=USC is having a down year and really isn't that good, but wait till next year!

Here is the winning scenario that I imagine, one that is similar
to our last victory (which was up North).

Noting that USC has only 4 returning starters on offense
and one less tune-up game, and hoping that the best
defense in the land gets better, the USC offense is
held in check.

That allows tOSU offense to play Tressel ball and hand it to
Beanie 40 times. Three yards and a cloud of beans sets up
5 or 6 wide open play action passes, limiting turnovers and
keeping the ball out of USC's hands.

We win 7-3, igniting "critics gone wild".

The SEC becomes supremely over confident, leading to
an OSU triumph in Miami.

You heard it here first.

I understand that USC only has a handful of guys that were considered starters, but this is a team that reloads such as us. Our defense sometimes needs a series to get their rhythm down, so I think the game starts off 7-7 quick.

If we can get an early lead and control their short pass game, I won't argue the 40 carries from Beanie, but no way is Tressel going to go that conservative, and the game could easily start with them airing it out to stretch the field.

USC gets a week off, we get a cupcake. I don't know which is better.

My thoughts are similar to going to Texas in 06, where losses to their offense certainly didn't affect their lofty #2 ranking. According to the media Texas went somewhat mediocre during that campaign, and deminished what was considered the biggest non-conference matchup in years. (*I think they lost 2 very close games to decent teams)

What's amazing is that tOSU is absolutely loaded with guys that have played in 2 national championship games. TWO.

They have experience and hunger.

The main media outlets will present this in a similar vein to 2006 when we go into the Coliseum and play lights out. We will win if we do not make costly mistakes, and USC will certainly get the usual "down-year" talk. This year plays right into that angle, but would only slow the hype chatter before the game kicks off.

My version of the game for a waaaay too early prediction is in the range of 24-14 Buckeyes. USC will score early, and then late when the first string defense is pulled out. OSU will control the game with Beanie and a good play action pass.

We have been the team to hate, and now that Notre Dame is in the stinker, we are the focus of lots of animosity because we win.

IMO, early in the season the tune up game is a big advantage over the bye week. I don't know many coaches that would want a week off vs a tune up before a big game early in the season if given the choice.

Also, one angle I don't see discussed here much is that early season games like this allow OSU 100% full concentration and an extra day of travel because classes have not started yet. Often glanced over but a big key imo.

The only way Beanie gets 40 carries in this game is if Boeckman plays like he did against scUM.

I'd say 20-25 is a much more reasonable expectation, especially with Saine taking away a few carries in the pony, and Pryor occaisonally coming in for a carry or 2 should JT design a package for him in such a big game.
