Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Well, the opener for Ped was played in Ireland. Take away the handful of UCF viewers and the rest were no doubt Pedsters... probably 1 million of em... which means... OSU brought about 3.7 million to our game against em. But, whatever... Boasting about TV ratings seems.... well... odd

Given what we know about Joe, that statement is one of the most irrational things they've written. And that's saying something.

There's so much dissonance in the reasoning expressed there, it makes my head swim.

Crazy thing is, I thought he was a decent guy up to 2011.
I saw PSU about the same as I do Nebraska now too... I even gave them a pass for stuff like the rail. But that all changed when it was revealed what they enabled for decades.

My take was that it wasn't about how we're better b/c ratings... so much as debunking the idea that the conference depends on PSU for tv ratings.
That may have been true to some extent in the 90s to pull Eastern Seaboard viewers ... but especially now that the conference has Rutgers and Maryland, it's meh... PSU doesn't bring anything special to the table for the conference at this point.

There are a lot of Ped fans here in NYC, but there were also a lot of Buckeye fans/alums and scUM fans (less alums) here when I arrived in the mid to late 90s. Ohio State Fans are everywhere in the country. Ped fans are in Pennsylvania and the Mid Atlantic, from DC up to NYC. I don't recall ever seeing any Ped fans out west when I lived out there, or in New Orleans when I lived down there.

the B1G needs PSU more than PSU needs the B1G!!!!

Where do they get this "eastern school" stuff? Like they're some kind of cosmopolitan destination like NYC or Boston or DC. They are in the middle of nowhere surrounded by mountains, forest and sasquatches. Just because your chances of getting raped in Happy Valley are greater than Philadelphia or Baltimore, does not make you cosmopolitan or 'eastern'.
chances go down with each passing second, though.

get it? cuz you get older.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Buy your own Paterno statue.

Edit: I'm actually surprised that this is the first I've heard of this. I'm surprised that I haven't seen any shrines erected for St. Joesus. Although, I haven't been to Pennsylvania for a while, so maybe that's part of it.

I never liked the statue, but because of the rush to injustice and what was behind its removal, it has to be put back. That, or there needs to be a new one (better likeness) on campus.
A better likeness:

Not to disagree, but other "Eastern schools" include Cornell, Williams and Dartmouth... I think the preferred term used in recruiting ads is "bucolic campus setting."
