Pittsburgh Panthers (official thread)

Got damn, it's that far away?

Burgettstown is 30 miles from the Pitt campus in bum fuck nowhere. They struggle to get students to Heinz Field, about 6 miles away. No one in Pittsburgh is going to fucking Burgettstown for a game, and opponents would have to stay by the airport (it's closer to Burgettstown than downtown Pittsburgh) - as would away fans. This woman should be fired for even making such a suggestion.

Old Pitt Stadium was right in the middle of the campus. I saw the Bucks there the year before 72-0 (Bucks rolled, I think 55-21). They tore it down to build a basketball arena even though they could easily play where the Penguins do - a couple miles away.

Pat Narduzzi on future Pittsburgh, Penn State game: 'We've called, we've asked'

Pittsburgh football coach Pat Narduzzi issued a challenge to Penn State this week, putting the onus on Nittany Lions coach James Franklin to schedule a future rivalry game against the Panthers. Pitt and Penn State met four times since the 2016 season after going on a 15-year hiatus in the series.

"You’d have to ask James Franklin,” Narduzzi told the 93.7 The Fan. “My call is, ‘Let’s go.’ We’ve called, we’ve asked.”

I don't really care if Pitt and Penn State play. But I find it funny that Penn State doesn't want the rivalry, because they're better than Pitt. That may be. In fact, I'll just say that it's correct. Penn State is typically better than Pitt.
But remember: Pitt beat Penn State in 2016, and that kept Penn State out of the playoffs. Maybe they aren't so much better than Penn State, after all?
There will probably be room for a couple of cupcakes and one good out of conference teams. Pitt doesn't fit either category. If we need a cupcake, we'd rather play a MAC team. If we need a good team, Pitt isn't good (or hasn't been good) so they don't really help us.
